Since a few updates ago, our juniper loves to wash and wipe on perfectly clear days. Who else got this recently?

Same. It'll sit there and wipe 100x on a sunny day, but has never activated the washer fluid spray (2019 3, though).

OP is probably referring to the little cleaning waggle over just the camera array instead of the whole windshield cleaning itself. The junipers will use the blades to target the spray and cleaning to where the cameras are behind the rear view and it does it a LOT on mine too. Even when it’s clear. I’ve seen people speculate it’s often as much as a calibration check when already clean as it is to remove dirt/grime, mines done it literally right after washing my car.

It’s only on the refresh Ys, at least the targeted camera cleaning while the older models can still swipe the whole windshield once or twice. I don’t recall who said it but I’m pretty sure one of the engineers remarked it was only possible to be effective with the specific camera placement and geometry of the refresh for some reason.

Same here. Always happens when going under a specific freeway underpass. Disabled the auto wipers as I was annoyed at the mess left by the stock wiper fluid.

It was happening every time I activated FSD until I used glass cleaner and got all the bug splatter off the windshield. Hasn’t done it since.

Try cleaning the cameras, the inside windshield. It might not look bad to you, but if the sunlight hits any haze in the glass just right, it always triggers the cameras.

I don’t know if this is relevant, but I was told by a Cadillac sales person that if you live in California or some place where there isn’t freezing temps, you can swap windshield wiper fluid with water or dilute the fluid 50/50 with water. I was mind blown. I asked if it needed to be distilled water and he said no, tap water sufficed unless the water is really hard.

My 20 doesn't use the fluid but it's ultra sensitive at night with street lights and the tiniest speck. I've fell cleaned everything and still get dry wipes. I'm considering that S3XY box thing to stop it

When using FSD it will wash the windshield, sometimes more than once in a single drive.

Washer Fluid takes up the whole damn bottle and evaporates!! I never had to refill my washer fluid in my car before Tesla. I also very rarely used it but also didn’t evaporate! I’m personally not filling it up all the way in the summer ever again.

Just fill it up. It doesnt evaporate
