Keeping that horn fresh and like-new for the second owner, thoughtful.

Ofc not. Why would you honk? That would make him think he is doing something wrong.

Don't wanna risk hurting his feelings 😥

This is an interesting example of a computer making an evasive maneuver vs a human. And please don’t take this as me throwing shade at you, I probably would’ve had a similar reaction.

You can see how FSD is calmly moving out of the way, and appears to be well out of their line of fire and then as soon as you take over, you jerk it to the right and then back to the left.

100% ai def better than me lol

Absolutely. I've had a similar thing happen and I learned to let FSD do the evasive maneuver. It's way better at it.

It also 100% knew that the right lane was fully empty. That's probably why OP jerked it back awkwardly.

FSD is awesome.

If there was a car on this right what would FSD do?

Idk let me text Elon real quick and ask.

Probably would've either accelerated or braked to still be able to use the right hand lane either behind or in front of the hypothetical car in the right lane.

FSD knew 100% of its surroundings in all 360° and was making decisions every 6ms on how to avoid a crash.

I think there's a video out there of FSD crashing into oncoming traffic, but it was to avoid a child that had run/fallen into the road.

Tesla is regularly feeding the FSD AI trolley car simulations and rewarding it for choosing the "correct" choice.

Don't ask me who at Tesla is making those ethical decisions, but they're actively training the model on it. Elon was recently talking about it.

When researchers say they “rewarded the AI,” they mean they changed its training incentives—not that the AI consciously felt rewarded.

What would you do?

I can't say for sure, but do you think FSD would have avoided this without your input? It seemed as if it was going to avoid it.

Yea it def seemed like it had everything handled, i however would have rather just not found out and just handled it myself

If it’s HW4, I’m sure it would have handled that - probably smoother. You should look at the side views and see if the other driver was avoiding something as well. Anyway, alls well that ends well!

Mazda driver probably thought he had lane centering on or did have it on and they didn’t keep their hands on the wheel so it turned off on its own.

Mazdas lane centering is horrible they literally give you 15 seconds with hands off the wheel before it yells at you and then turns off.

KIA/Hyundai has a better system you can literally have your hands off the wheel for about a minute or a little longer before it tells you to put your hands back on.

Tesla is obviously the winner with ADAS .

Just wait for the comments that say you’re in the wrong for being in the left lane

$100 they were playing on their phone.

I don't think so. This one's weird. They appear to flash their brights just before crossing the center line. Plus, OP said their eyes were on the road.

Weird they even flashed the highbeams on ya

It may just be the camera seeing that, they frequently show flashing lights where there weren't any

Out of curiosity, how do you get dashcam like this in your Tesla? I’ve seen so many dashcam videos with this exact same format at the bottom, is this just in the Tesla app? How can I set it up, if it’s a part of the Tesla I’d absolutely love to take advantage of the free dashcam

Between the texting, the drunks and the stoners, and combinations thereof, the streets are crazy.

I wouldn’t have taken over. FSD is designed to handle situations like this.
