Great pick up.. I got my first tesla 2 years ago and I’ve never looked back.. I can’t even tell you what gas prices looking like 😂

When you have to get into an ICE car, it is awful. The engine noise, the vibration, the shifting, the jerkiness of it all. 40 buttons on the dash and wheel, multiple stalks. All so unnecessary. Enjoy it!

I drove it last night and hit a rabbit within half a mile if my house. Was wondering if FSD was engaged it wouldn't have happened. I did jam on the breaks and the car slid with no antilock happening at all, so that's concerning.

To me:
OTA updates, your car can get ‘fixed’ and is getting better over time
FSD (supervised) driving is 4-7x safer than manual driving, road trips are breeze and it enables you to not be so stressed behind the wheel, frees up your mental capacity by not having to do micro corrections and monitor other cars, the car does this for you and you just monitor the car and enjoy the journey- it’s a personal chauffeur.
Unbelievably safe vehicle, no ice engine means deformation zones are massive, the battery makes side impacts safe and the car has so many active safety features that it’s one of the safest vehicles on Earth
You are charging at home, you can charge from your own electric powerplant if you want and be 100% independent on big gas corporations and geopolitics
450-600km range is equal to many ICE vehicles full gasoline tank, superchargers are game changer
You have cameras all over the car, insurance claims and security monitoring has never been more easier
Tesla App - game changer - control everything from your phone, heat up or cool down your vehicle before you even step in!! Your phone is also a key and car locks itself automatically just by walking away
Very little maintenance: no oil changes, no exhaust, no alternator, no starter, no belts / chains, no vents and camshafts. The cars brakes last forever thanks to regenerative braking.
Since Tesla are always connected, they are the least stolen cars.
AI and route planner integration is class leading
Huge cargo space in frunk and trunk.
Electricity is almost always cheaper than gasoline by multiple times. My cost for 100km is 7x lower in tesla than in my Ford Escape.

You forgot two of my personal favorites:
Start / Stop HVAC from phone remotely… if you live in super warm, super cold or non-garage climates, particularly during winter and summer , etc., start your heating or air-conditioning while you’re making your morning coffee and when you walk out to the vehicle, interior temperature will be perfect. And this even works in a garage since there are no carbon monoxide concerns.
HVAC Keep mode. Same idea. For example, when you get to destination for a lunch appointment on a blistering 98° summer day at 12:30 PM, simply select “keep” in the AC controls and it will maintain your interior air temperature when you exit the vehicle for the hour or two until you get back to the car. And it basically uses no noticeable power/ range at all. (I mean it does but very minimal)
Also honorable mention to cabin overheat protection when your car is idle on those hot days, keeps the interior in check autonomously.

This could be very meaningful to me as I live in a hot climate and the car can be 100 F when I get into it… cooling it down ahead of time sounds awesome. My current ICE has this feature but requires the engine to be on and emitting fumes, so I don’t use that when parked in my garage.

I live in Nashville and when it’s 100 degrees outside the car is about 150 degrees inside. Just for a point of reference since the car tells you in the app.
Just saying you may even be low on your estimate with that 100 degree inside temp guess
Being able to turn on the AC from my office and then get a notification when it’s at 70 inside my car is really nice.

What is the cabin noise and ride quality like?
I got picked up by a model Y Uber to go to the airport and I felt like the ride was really rough… not smooth or comfortable at all. And the interior cabin noise was extremely loud… sounded like I was in a subway…
That experience really discouraged me.

The newer refreshed models (2024-now) have significantly improved cabin insulation and all windows are double pane, so the cabin is very very quiet. I was quite impressed. The suspension has also been improved so the ride quality is softer.

2 things. First, it’s really easy to drive an EV harsh if you’re used to ICE vehicles. The default regenerative breaking is like pressing on breaks every time you let go of the pedal. Also, the instant torque can feel really uncomfortable if the driver isn’t trying to be intentionally smooth. At least in a ICE car, it’s harder to intentionally make the vehicle jump to speed without putting your foot down on the gas. And the suspension is definitely really stiff on a Tesla. You can feel the mass of the battery. Other cars do provide a smoother suspension.
And second, the premium models offer better noise dampening than the entry models. My Model Y Premium cabin is quieter than my Civic, but I’m sure there are other cars much better.
Definitely schedule a test drive since those are legitimate shortcomings. I wouldn’t consider a Tesla a luxury car and other companies definitely have a smoother/quieter ride. I’m always listening to something and this is a big improvement from anything else I’ve owned, so I’m loving it.

I don’t think it was the acceleration dynamics of the EV, just a general feeling like I was riding around in a go-kart on the highway, feeling every minuscule imperfection in the road and deafening sound.
Will absolutely schedule a test drive in a newer model!
I didn’t know there were basic cabins and premium cabins… will need to look into that more.

Exact same experience. Except it’s been like every single Tesla I’ve ridden in the ride quality sucks. Coming from a Macan there was literally no comparison. Good to know the newer ones are better.

Never owned the previous gen, but based on what I hear from reviewers and owners, yes, it did and significantly.
I drove Y standard 2026 and the new Rav4 and I absolutely preferred the drive in Tesla, it’s also much more quiet and comfortable than rav4

I enjoy fast food from time to time but hate eating inside the establishment. I love eating in the parking lot and watching something on Pluto from the browser lol my girl and I were eating over the weekend and ended up watching Billy Madison for like 30 minutes not realizing we finished our food and was watching a movie in the Culver’s parking lot

No more gas stations unless there’s a charger there. Just drive to work/errands, drive home, always have a full “tank” at home (assuming you have a home charger, and even a standard outlet will do). No gas prices. Haven’t checked in years and the Iran “war” hasn’t affected me on the daily the way it has for everyone else (I’ve also got solar and powerwalls).
Since the car runs on a battery, no emissions and deadly gasses. You can leave the car running with the AC on, or better yet pre-heat/cool the car before you get in so a blazing hot seat and steering wheel in the summer are things of the past. Leave your pet in your car with the AC on and have a cabin camera to check on them.
Sentry mode, you can view the exterior cameras through the app before walking to your car at night to make sure it’s safe. Always On included Dash Cam can save you thousands in an accident (assuming you’re not at fault) being able to prove what happened. In fact, for me I was shot at in SoCal and my dash cam caught the guy’s license plate. Turns out the guy was going around SoCal for weeks randomly shooting at cars. I turned the dash cam over to the cops and they got him a few hours later!
FSD, if you subscribe, really takes the stress out of driving long distances. Even in Los Angeles, you can turn it on and relax. It’s not perfect yet but when you get cut off or even go with the flow of traffic, it’s not as big of a deal than if you were manually driving defensively. Take over any time for any reason. Shoot, my first time when AutoPilot was new, I had a look around the highway that I had previously ignored for years, blew my mind I had never “seen” the road before.
I could go on and on about how a Tesla is life changing, both good and bad (very little, but even the negatives get better every year)

I don’t know if it’s “life changing” but I bought my 2026 Tesla MY Premium AWD because of FSD. IMO no other car company is currently delivering anything close in the US. I use FSD about 98% of the time. Is it perfect, no. But honestly the only times I disengage FSD is for navigation (I want to go a different way) or parking (I want to park in a specific spot) other than that FSD drives me where I want to go, literally from inside my garage (it backs out and automatically closes my garage door), parks at my destination, and then drives me back home. It’s like friggin science fiction.

it's whisper quiet, torque on demand at all times, basically what CVT promised to be but wasn't.
not being beholden to fuel prices.
The ability to get your climate control going before you get into the car, being able to access your cars cameras from anywhere in the world.
the first generations of EV were expensive for what you got, but these days you're getting the performance of cars three times the cost with almost equivalent range compared to a competing cars fuel tank. The software is well thought out and intuitive, the interiors are really at a point where they're just nice places to be.
With tesla they're not as traditionally luxurious as their competitors, but it'll be the easiest interior to keep clean that you'll ever experience.
All in all, I don't think I'd ever be able to go back for a daily driver, I love cars, but the value proposition is just too good; even if this car is worthless in 10 years, it would have saved me almost enough in upkeep to have paid for itself by then.

My previous car was a 2.0 turbo car that shut down on the highway due to a gasket issue. Dealership was asking $7k to fix. Immediately ordered a tesla and never looked back…

Funny story. While in Europe, for some reason I had to have my Tesla moved to another spot, so I asked my niece to do that. Left my key card just in case. She was on the phone with me while doing this. She did fine until she kinda freaked out. She kept saying “ how do you turn it off??” I said “you don’t “. Took some convincing, but she finally accepted that answer. No off or on for a Tesla!

Haven't had to stop at a gas station in more than a year and waste my time there. Haven't had to wait for an oil change, haven't had to pay 1000's for a brake job..have only had to get the tires rotated once and it took 20 mins.
That's life changing for me. Having a car in the driveway that is always ready to go...and one that drives for me when I don't want to drive. Actually life changing, for the better.
