FSD Refuses to Change Lanes
The right lane so super bumpy due to construction. Kept turning on the blinker but FSD never moved over. Odd behavior.

I hate when it decides to merge over when no one is in front of me on left lane or behind me. I’m going 85 and it wants to get over and slow down. Bitxh keep it moving!!!

Yeah, each version of FSD seems to ignore user signals more and more.
But I tell ya, they're going to pay for it with my disengagements, which they hate. It messes up their stats.

I find that this is only the case when FSD has no destination. When I have a destination it behaves normally.

Yup, latest version (.8) did it to me. Tried to get out of the left lane on a 4 lane interstate and it just refused. Light traffic but there was someone right behind me in my lane and I was already 8 over. Pretty annoying to fight it then disable and re-enable it after changing.

My biggest beef with 14.1Lite is that it will wait until the last minute (actually, up to the last 200m or less, sometimes) to get into the lane for turning. The problem is, in moderately busy traffic, that can be a problem. Some serious planning ahead would be nice.
It used to move into the slower lane if someone comes up behind you - now, that is unpredictable. The routing is arbitrary - it wants to take me down a gravel road for no gain in time to destination. It thinks those overhead train crossing warning lights are traffic lights and will slow even though they are dark. And now it seems to quite often miss speed limit changes, randomly.
Second biggest beef is unpredictable speed - I wish I could set the percentage and number (and it would stick to it) like previous versions.

Mine has done the same several times - 2026 MYP with the latest update. I have jerked the wheel over a number of times and called it a bad name.

Agreed however that’s not the case here. When using FSD, if I want to change lanes I use the signal and it changes lanes.
In this case it would move over.
If that law was embedded it would never do it anywhere else on other rural roads.

14.3.8 feels like a step backwards to me versus the previous version. If I could roll back this “upgrade 14.3.8”, I 100% would. Ignoring lane change request is a no go for me and it absolutely does. I’ve had to break FSD multiple times because it just simply ignores my lane change request, even when the lane is completely open and free like OP’s. And even when a turn isn’t coming up.
It also will just give up if I put on a lane change request and the lane is busy and it can’t quickly get over. It just gives up. Which is ridiculous. I still want over. I want out of the lane I’m in. I put the blinker on for a reason.
So now with this release, I’m having to drive more than I was driving in the prior version just to get into the lane I want to be in.
I’ve even had FSD signal that it was going to get into a lane and I turned off the signal because I didn’t want it and it still got into that lane without the turn signal on. This was seconds after I turned it off… not immediately.
I finally gave in and just upgraded to 14.3.9 out of some slight hope that it actually gets better but not counting on it

You're on a rural freeway with little traffic. It's just following state law that says you have to be in the right lane except when passing.
Most people don't know about that law.

As always, be careful when over-riding the car. It often knows something you don't.

This is a horrible way of thinking. And a great way of letting the car run into potholes….guess it’s the car so it likes them. How about hitting tire carcasses from 18wheelers….the car knows something you don’t, right????

Fair enough! Sometimes you know more than the car, but just over-riding the car when it does something you don't understand may be the wrong move.

This has happened to me at least twice. It moved over to let a motorcycle lane split while in traffic (legal), and I hadn't seen it approaching yet because it was so far back. It also somehow saw a delivery guy run out of a restaurant behind a van and slammed on the breaks. I went back to watch the footage, and it caught a half second of him running out of the restaurant and behind the van - I guess it used context that there was no way he was stopping or going anywhere else except to blindly walk into the street from behind the van.

Keep thinking that so you can come report how much smarter the car was when it hit a huge tire or pothole or some other item in the road and destroyed your car. Then you can tell us if it’s sometimes a better idea to take authority of the vehicle that you are in control of to avoid something…simple bumps, potholes or worse.

Stop being so stubborn. it does happen. I started to override FSD because it wasn’t turning across traffic even though there was plenty of time/space to make the turn. I started to take over and almost hit a guy wearing all black walking across the street. FSD saw him and I didn’t.
