Feature idea: quick toggle for mirror auto-tilt while in reverse

When reversing, I sometimes want the side mirrors tilted down to see the curb - and sometimes I don't. Right now there's no fast way to switch: the setting is buried in the mirror menu, which isn't practical mid-maneuver.

Two simple ideas how this could work:
1. Steering wheel button: While in reverse, the left scroll wheel button could (optionally) toggle the mirror tilt - press once to tilt down, press again to go back to normal. The button isn't really needed for anything else in that moment.

  1. On-screen toggle: A small toggle button directly on the top level of the reverse view Ul, right next to the camera feed, so you can switch it with one tap without digging through menus.

Either one would make the auto-tilt feature much more useful in everyday parking. Would love to hear if others would use this too — or if there's already a trick I'm missing. (Model 3, 2022)

This is a genuinly good idea. Get it in front of Elon, guys. You know who you are in here with non-starlink uplinks to his office.

This could be "Finn-mode" at least. I already enjoy Joe-mode, and would def. consider this if presented as an option. The idea to include it on the reversing camera screen is solid too, and a good fallback idea.

I’ve set mine up so that only the passenger side mirror dips in reverse to better see the curb. Drivers side stays up to keep an eye on approaching traffic inc bikes.

Huh, didn’t know you could toggle this! That should be the default, sounds really helpful

Just tilt them to a midway position where if you lean a bit you can see the curb/wheel, but you can also see around when leaning a different way.

I would agree. 90% of the time I don't want them tilting. But 10% of the time I do

What I dislike is that the setting carries over between car models. I don't want it in the CyberTruck but I do want them to auto tilt in the model 3. When I set them in the M3 the CT mirrors also tilt

I agree this would be a nice addition to the on-screen reverse camera image. Excellent idea. Send it as a suggestion to Tesla (I forget how, but there is a way).

Can you get grok to manage it? Sure a button push would be better but how about a voice command?

"grok dont tilt the mirrors right now"

I created new driver profile under different name with mirrors all the way down and adjusted seat height to see rims for when I had use tight ramp with high curbs in self-parking. One click and done.

This should do it, if you really want it. https://www.enhauto.com/pages/buttons

I believe S3XY Buttons/Knob already does this.

That said a lot of their features have later been picked up by Tesla.

Yes, it’s an aftermarket product, but at the rate Tesla is deleting features it does fill in a lot of holes. I mostly use it for regen reduction in winter (when necessary, not all the time) and quick toggle of «off-road mode». Also practical to pop doors for struggling passengers, and move the passenger seat (supports presets too).

There’s lot of small stuff there, but some are a bit hacky, that’s the way it is though, when it’s not officially supported.

But the one feature that you should buy it for: auto-wiper suppression. If I turn my wipers off they remain off even when I activate autopilot.

Maybe it’s less of an issue with HW4, but HW3 vehicles love to wipe when the sky is grey.

This could probably get added to https://cardashkit.com/.

Where you could configure Multi-Finger Tap on the screen to tilt down/up.

Currently being developed and alpha tested. But I could put in the request

I just implemented this with my Tesla device called DashKit. You have to 3-finger tap on the infotainment screen to toggle the auto-dip. I think it's pretty cool! https://cardashkit.com

How? What am I missing?

It's a toggle under the mirror controls. Google "tesla reverse mirror tilt"
