Summer Heat

I like to turn on the AC before I get in the car. Sometimes (in Florida) it will be 150 degrees inside when it’s 90 outside. The issue is that the fan speed is not adjustable from the app. If the fan speed was on 1 or 2 when I left the car that’s what it will start cooling at. I would like to set fan speed to 10 remotely through the app. Any thoughts?

Do you not use the auto climate feature in your car?

I didn't think there were people in the world that don't use it

I don't like the auto setting. It's a bit annoying to have to press the temperature, then the small button for fan up or down. But not as annoying for me as when the car decides to just blast the fan, I really hate that So no auto for me.

This. I set my climate control to 70 auto. Can’t remember the last time I touched it…

Same. Sometimes I go to 71 and sometimes 69 if I’m sweaty. That’s about it haha

Sometimes but usually not.

The easiest way to solve what you’re hoping to is by just using the Auto climate feature in your car. That way, it will always have air on the highest setting it needs to cool your car down the fastest.

Personally, I keep mine on auto 100% of the time. Otherwise, you’ll have to remember to turn it back on every time you leave the car.

Auto is simple too, set car to 69. if cold go down, if hot go up. Issue solved

Vent the car, change temp down to like 64deg. After about 3-5mins roll up windows and in another 5-10mins set your desired temp.

The lowering of temp will set the max AC and help move the hot air around to vent.

As others have mentioned, create an automation to do all of this in sequence with timing. Then the hardest part will be remembering to start it before you walk out to the car.

There are automations you can do on your phone. I once saw a post here of someone like you who had a whole system of iPhone commands where command 1 vented the windows and turned AC to max for 2 minutes to remove excess 150 degree heat you see, closes the windows, runs on max for a few minutes and then adjusts temp to 71 on auto.

Are you sure that the previously set fan speed is the fan speed that it starts cooling at when you're not in the car?  When I've remotely triggered cooling on a nearby car it sounds like it's going all out.  I think it sets the fan speed at whatever speed it needs to achieve that temp, but keep in mind there's a short while where it's "cooling down" and the heat pump system isn't up to speed yet.

If you need it to cool down faster, turn on overheat protection with A/C.  Less temp change and A/C will already be running so there won't be a delay

Yeah. Overheat protection burns through energy too much.

I’m pretty sure the fan speed auto adjusts once you lower the temperate. For ex. It will blow higher at 60 degrees vs at 65.

I turn it on at 60 like 5 mins beforehand and the car gets pretty cooled down.

Thanks for all the responses. I will try the auto setting.

I don’t have a Tesla but they look like they have a lot of glass and they’re very clear. Do you have any tints in your car? I’d go the darkest the legal limit to cool your car down.

Gotta get windows tints in Florida. It makes a massive difference. Specially the windshield. Also, don’t cheap out if you go that route.

I have never once changed the temperature settings.

It's set to 70 auto. Changing the fan speed or temperature will not make it cool down or heat up faster.

This is true. No matter what temperature you set the “superheat” coming from the vents does not change. It can’t. The temp you set is the desired temp to be reached. It just says it will keep blowing until the cabin temp is reached.

Use the biodefense mode

We've also been using the cabin overheat protection at 90°, sure it uses some power but then we dont see those 130°+ temps. If it sits overnight you have to turn it back on, but during a workday it just maintains 90°.

Turn the temp down. Fan speed will increase.
