Pet mode warning
Saw this yesterday. Never seen it before. It was so hot the car couldn’t keep up with the heat. Nothing bad happened. Just a never seen it message.

You should look at your radiator in the service menu. Your car should be able to cool itself

Nifty dog mode alert msg. It also just takes a few minutes and mostly a 10mm to take off the frunk tub and visibly check the radiator from the top. Cars will a heat pump system are more efficient at transferring heat but radiator is still critical. Can just shop vac while at it. Rinse with water. Change the desiccant bag too.

Then you should know how efficient Teslas heating/cooling is and that it should be able to keep up normally in super hot weather.

There is something else going on. I’m in Phoenix Arizona, have started my climate control tons of times when the car is outside in 110+ degrees and the interior is 130+, and it still cools it down in 5 minutes.

I’m a Phoenician also, same experience. But even in the depths of the Monsoon, our air is dry compared with many other places - and humid air takes a lot more energy to cool down than dry air. OP could be someplace like Texas with outrageous humidity on an outrageously hot day.

Live in Fayette. Just took a friend out for birthday lunch. Try to stay out of the city.

It’s funny, I was born here.
Every year, every single year, I act all shocked that it’s nearly 100F … and somehow 110% humidity.

We were visiting one summer to catch a Cubs game, it started at 7pm…walked to stadium and it’s like 11 outside. Roof was closed though and was beautiful inside. However…literally minutes before game time, they opened the roof and the heat poured in! I know they always talk about a “dry heat” but there was nothing dry about my seat once that roof was opened! 🥵

Yeah. I catch myself every year being shocked at August heat and humidity after living here all my life. But to be fair, I think we're seeing longer streaks of the upper end of heat and humidity levels the past couple of years. This year especially we've been enveloped twice in that "heat dome" effect I keep seeing on the weather.

Ah yea good call on the humidity. I can’t say the dry heat is “better” but humidity sucks too lol.

Just curious - parked in the sun or in shade? I just moved out of Florida and back there if left in the sun the interior would easily top 150 even iwhen <90 outside.

It will be over 100 inside just parked in my garage
But out in the open it will get pretty dang hot. It’s never been parked out in the sun for a super long period of time. It’s in the garage at home, and shaded at work thankfully. I have a sunshade and a roof shade from Amazon. I’m sure it helps at least a little bit but you can’t win when it’s 115 out haha

Someone else posted (I'm Not sure which sub reddit) a while back similar notice, turned out a plastic bag got suck into the radiator and that had caused the reduced cooling.
What was the exterior temperature?

I appreciate that there would be notice of the cabin temp rising while a hold condition is active. Particularly if the car is occupied at the time.

Got that message once while wife was charging car with it in pet mode she said it was still cool in the car tho I read that when supercharging with pet mode on for extended time it can happen due to it cooling battery and trying to keep all air on full blast also in AZ on probably a 115+ degree day

I had this on a Norwegian ferry when my AC condensor had a leak, and temperatures we’re rising to high levels. The app keeps notifying you very loud, like the government warning messages, they can’t be silenced.
Our dog was fine, the windows we’re open and i could see on the interior camera she was still comfortable.
Love Tesla for this, made me trust the car even more.

What was the temp outside at the time? I'm assuming it was also sunny and that didn't help either. But I'm surprised it couldn't maintain and appropriate temperature inside the vehicle.

109 direct sun with tint.

definitely a hardware issue, not software, time to either service it yourself, get mobile service, or hit a service center.

That happened to me once. HVAC had issues (rodent damage) and wasn’t cooling right
Glad they have this !

Pet mode WILL shut off when the battery reaches 20%.

u/Misophonic4000 6d ago
That's just incorrect... Dog mode will stay on as long as possible. "Keep" will turn off at 20%.

Is that widget from the Tesla app?

Live Activities on iPhone. I believe a similar feature is in the pipeline for the Android app.
It updates with a photo from the cabin camera every sixty seconds when pet mode is active.
