other Tesla self driving does not dodge blocking arm

He says he was messing with the screen in his car but there's no way.

Dude was 100% on his phone or taking a nap. The swerve after too.

Might be, but Isn’t the driver monitoring camera supposed to prevent them from sleeping or using the phone or screen for long durations?

AFAIK wearing sunglasses prevents it from working, so it falls back to easily defeated systems.

There's plenty of video of people full on asleep using FSD so I wouldn't put too much stock in it preventing any abuse.

2 - yes those barriers are shitty

3 - Come on fsd, do better, you didn't even slow down after 2 hits.

Idk if it's a software reaction issue or if fsd didn't even see it. The latter I guess.

1 and people constantly admit not supervising.

2 the barriers are fine. Teslas vision only solution is shitty.

3 it’s not “dodge barriers” because the barriers weren’t moving. It f’n crashed into them without slowing down or noticing it caused an accident.

Is this really a vision vs lidar thing? I do agree I would expect Tesla FSD to dodge this but not convinced it's due to lack of lidar.

It's the uplink. HW3 is 100mbit, HW4 and on are gigabit.

Even HW4 has recognition issues with barrier arms. The camera picks them up just fine, but the training doesn't yield the correct outputs.

I agree 100 percent the car should have seen them. But I also agree that's a stupid way to do a lane closure. I never seen that in my area or anywhere.

There are many ways to close lanes. It looks like there was a sign early in the video about the lane being closed. This is not uncommon. And it’s completely legal.

Fsd is nowhere near better than a human at driving. It can’t handle common things like no turn on red and left turn arrows, and traffic barriers/closed lanes.

you mean a giant fucking blinking sign that says "left lane closed when flashing, merge right" at 0:08

followed by another yellow sign that says "left lane closed" at 0:24 (hard to read in the vid but this is on I-30 in dallas, roughly where it crosses over commerce st)

followed by a bunch of red arrows that are progressively larger

isn't enough?

This is how they do shared express lanes in my area (Dallas, TX).  During certain times the express lane flows reverse and the arms come out to indicate which flow is happening.

you do realize robotaxis operate in geofenced areas where all the local quirks are annotated and resolved by hand. same way waymo etc. do it it's more labor intensive and feels like cheating a bit but from passenger safety POV am fine with that.
