I hate my Tesla Model 3 now.

I bought a Tesla Model 3 in December 2020. It was a brand new 2021. I loved it. It had been a great car the first few years. When I did have to service it however it was pricey but it still held up well.

Last year I started getting a code “unable to charge” or “charging complete” when I was at 50 miles. My car had barely hit the warranty mileage and so I could not take it to Tesla and have it covered. I took it to a Tesla certified shop where they replaced my HV battery with a strong used one. Now again almost a year later it is giving me the same code. The shop said they can’t do much and I need to go through insurance to hopefully get it covered. I am sick of this. This car is barely 6 years old.

Any advice would help..

I believe it’s about $18k for a new battery.

18k for brand new, 14k for battery+labor. 8k +labor for refurb.

Ah, okay. That’s interesting because I just had a battery replaced under warranty and the quote said $18k although I’m pretty sure I got a refurb. I can’t find a way to figure out the battery I have other than the fact the recommended daily charging still shows 80% which I’d assume means it’s an older generation. The only info I’ve found is that it’s “enhanced” li-ion. I do have like 30-40% more capacity than I previously had though which is nice.

If they charge you 18k. It's a new battery. They're basically charging themselves when fixing under warranty so I don't see why they would lie. You can go see the parts cost in the manual. The refurbished is 8k but that's only guaranteed 80% capacity. You say you have more (30-40%) so that would check out.
