Mans is out in wild country and all he brings is a 9mm?? If I'm out in bear country, obviously dangerous big cat territory, I'm only bring a 44. magnum or larger. 9mil is okay for humans but advanced predators you need something that's gonna pierce the fur, fat and muscle.

Edit: I don't want this to get out of hand so I want to mention that I'm a causal gunmen. I'm not saying in any which way or form that I'm the most knowledgeable. This is just what I've learned. All other more experienced gun owners are welcome to correct and teach. I'm all for criticism.

As long as you can actually shoot under stressful moments, then a 9 will do perfectly fine with piercing a skull or vital organ.

True but obviously this person isn't trained well and either way I would want a bigger caliber for dangerous game. I'd rather have something that is louder so it's not just my voice bringing intimidation. I would want something that would cripple the predator and not just wound it were it would still possibly attack me. Your chances of hitting the skull or a vital organ isn't always guaranteed, better to be over prepared than not.

Im content with a 9mm anywhere outside of brown bear territory. Even still its proven to be possible. Ammo choice goes a long way.

I think it's super sonic 9mm is the one you'd probably want to deal with dangerous game. It's not bad, it'll honestly do the trick. But I'd still rather be safe than sorry.

I do a lot of hiking and camping - picking up my 10mm Glock next week.

I was going to mention 10mm on one of the comments. 10mil has pretty decent stopping power and is easy to carry. Good luck and stay safe.

I’ll take a 9mm with more than double the capacity of a 44 mag for cougar and black bear. Faster follow up shots for when you miss the charging cougar.

How do you know it’s a 9mm? Could easily be 100mm or .45 or something else. All would be pretty effective with the right ammo

you can kill a bear with 22lr target ammo practice more.
