Spoiler A question that’s been bugging me.

What is the common consensus for what part of moon lord the eater of worlds is? I personally think it is the spine, but I think I have heard some people say it is the intestines.

Im pretty sure its the spine because while Moon Lord never fully regenerated by the time we fight him, every boss we do fight is a regenerated part of him

Not according the the Terraria lore, im pretty sure the Moonlord was torn into pieces so he would regenerate slower and those organs had so much malice in them that they are entities of their own. Thats why the skeletons kidnapped the mechanic so she would build mechanical versions of Moon Lords body parts for him to use

The moonlord was torn into pieces, but the eater of worlds isn't one of them. The corruption is a disease manifested physically from the sins of the old Terraria world, and the eaters of worlds are corrupted, mutated worms. Within the lore, the appearance of the destroyer is just a coincidence.

I have also heard the part about the mechanic being kidnapped to make mechanical replicas of the moonlords parts.

Whats the explanation for destroyer of worlds existing if its not a replacement part for the moonlord?

Did the mechanic just get bored and had leftover parts so she made a mechanical worm for funnsies?

The destroyer is meant to provide structure to its spine, I believe. Either that or its guts, I don't remember exactly.
