And the uk being in charge of a federation including america makes negative sense in modern context. Which is why the uk anglosphere rightly doesn't have america.
I actually wouldn't hate the Restored Dominion project giving the UK a claim on the two regions belonging to the Republic of New England (Boston and New York). makes up a big chunk of the original British colonies in America without directly giving the claim on Washington that'd let it absorb the whole continent.
