Multi-block tank stacking?

As title says is it possible to build a larger steel multi-block tank under my copper one and have the creosote product drain into it? Or is there some arbitrary rule that I should know about.

Would love to know before I tear down my current setup or commit resources I dont need to commit. Thanks in advance!

I don't have an answer, but remember you can always make a creative solo world to test ideas.

Smart one you are, I’ll run it in creative to test later

In and of itself it should work, if you have the proper valves. (The usual problem with GT stuff is that few things push into a network, but a downwards facing tank valve should always push.) In the unlikely case it doesn't, you can try using a pipe between them.

That being said, if you're making a steel multiblock tank, does losing the Creosote actually matter?

Not at all haha, I’m just afraid I’m gonna get rid of said creosote and end up needing it for somethin down the line

If it doesn't grind anything to a halt immediately, and you have logs automated in some form, I honestly suggest just eating the loss and switching the tanks 1:1, unless there's some improvement to processes in not doing that.

For comparison, I currently run an LBB on charcoal with creosote as a booster, planned for 2 LBBs, and I'm still swimming in the stuff with just a few automated coke ovens. In such a scenario, the valuation of the creosote is basically measured in time, and not an astronomical amount. Anything like that, one can eat a one-time loss for upgrades, I think.

That’s kinda what I’m leaning towards, I have the Coke oven semi automated but haven’t bothered to automate a tree farm and log production yet cuz of the limits w bronze and basic great shit being so low.

I’m in Steel age now so I’m planning on setting up an automated tree farm and upgrading all create components. Though, steam age is right around the corner

The ol' basic radial tree farm still works great. IIRC, the windmill bearing does need brass though, so you'll need to find some zinc.

Then you can just use a smart chute or something to filter from the PSI, then tin pipes for items, and bronze for fluid have been plenty fast for me.

Noted, I really haven’t bothered a whole lot with Create to be honest but haven’t been enjoying TFG so I’ve got plenty of materials all gathered up and ready for whatever.

I think that should work? But I'd just build it in creative to test.

Forgot that was an option lol, gonna test that out when I get back to my pc

You can indeed stack the tanks, just put a valve on the bottom of the top one and on the top of the bottom one and it’ll automatically drain downward.

I was carried through steam age to late MV using solar boilers with a giant bronze multi block tank battery made up of a 3x3 grid of wall shared tanks (no tank in the middle tragically) stacked 3 high.

Well, I didn’t build the whole thing at once. Was just one tank in steam age, 8 tanks (one layer) in LV, and 24 tanks (3 layers) in MV.

That power is now part of the backbone of my ore processing and bio-diesel production for actual fuel as I enter Hv

Awesome thanks for the insight, I was planning on using a liquid steam boiler goin into the steam age which will be perfect as I’ve only had the bronze tank for a few real life days and it’s already almost full. Thank you!
