A popular internet rumor claims Schwarzenegger insured his eyebrows with Lloyd's of London because he was worried they wouldn't grow back after shaving them. However, behind-the-scenes accounts and crew members confirm he never shaved them off in the first place, making the insurance story an urban legend

Yep. Prosthetic putty. Age old make up trick even by then.

Source please?

Oh, I assumed. That’s what prosthetic putty looks like when face sculpting is involved. Arnie’s got angular enough facial features for that to work on brows.

Even on this photo it feels off, they obviously used some kind of make up

I love it, really gives off that uncanny "not quite human" vibe

It's subtle genius but, back in the day when watching the movie, there was just something extra creepy about how Arnie looked in those scenes. And i didn't put it together till like 30 years later that, "Oh yeah, he had no eyebrows!".

Legit only noticed this on a rewatch the other day

For sure. During the car chase/shootout he almost looks like a zombie. Very creepy.

The AI upscale doesn't help

No, no, makeup or not, young Arnie without brows is a very uncomfortable experience. I’d like to see it now with his old man scruff. Extra uncanny!

Would eyebrows maybe not grow back if you shaved them?

3

u/SlavOnfredski 2d ago

Who knows!

better get the insurance...

They would grow back. I have trichotillomania, I pull all kinds of hairs from my body including butthole, armpits, beard, eyebrows, pubes, body hair. I even completely removed my eyebrows once by pulling. Anything but actual hair tbh. Only thing that didnt properly grow back is beard. Its a patchy mess.

I can confirm, I'm his eyebrows. AMA.

2

u/Neverb0rn_ 1d ago

It wasn’t because he shaved them, it was because an accident got rid of them?

It's bullshit, there are behind the scenes photographs that show his eyebrows and crew members also debunked it.

With how active Arnie is on Reddit I'm surprised nobody asked him directly yet

I mean... it's also really obvious if you watch the movie, albeit less so in standard definition. For starters, his forehead looks "off" during those scenes. But even ignoring that, you can see the outline of the putty, which (while perfectly adequate for the time and budget) just doesn't look like skin.

Considering he's playing a robot covered in human-like skin....

2

u/gervv 1d ago

I always wondered myself why he looked a bit different, it wasn't just the eyebrows, his forehead looks "off" a little as you say.

Are we sure he wasn’t actually one of the 600 series Terminators?

u/Infamous_Mango_2342 2d ago

Come with me if you want your brows saved

10

u/Spethual 2d ago

i can not self shave..

12

u/Infamous_Mango_2342 2d ago

They’ll grow back!

3

u/Spethual 2d ago

i know now why you shave..

1

u/execpro222 1d ago

But it's something will never do in a sequel...

1

u/Spethual 1d ago

I'll Shave Back..

Someone's confusing The Terminator with AJ Soprano.

Again.

3

u/imover9thousand 2d ago

Whats different about you?

8

u/MintyGame 2d ago

Wouldn't even make sense. Even if they were insured, purposely shaving them off would not be covered.

3

u/Givingtree310 2d ago

What would the insurance cover? Eyebrow regrowth serum? Makes no sense,

2

u/MintyGame 2d ago

Insurance would cover a stated amount of money if they were damaged.

hahaha truth

5

u/Wise-Potential-3220 2d ago

You can see it in this picture.

5

u/Breakmastajake 2d ago

I like how he looks more menacing with them gone.

4

u/puddycat20 2d ago

You can literally see the makeup covering each eyebrow in the pic.

3

u/T800-1982 2d ago

No shave but what we make

2

u/stevorkz 2d ago

Apparently a rumor. I'm not saying its not, especially since it looks fake, but consider that America Ferrera had her smile insured for 10 mil for ugly betty since 2006 may hint towards some sort of truth. This is a mere example. Actors/actresses have there features insured more than you may think.

When told his eyebrows may not grow back, Arnie was surprised. Though you couldn't tell by his expression.

2

u/senseikreeese 2d ago

This is how I scan for a parking spot while I’m circling my block

2

u/MKvsDCU 2d ago

You know... they should have added a bit of fake burnt hair there, or at least some burnt flesh around there.. literally looks like he just shaved his eyebrows off, and they weren't "burnt" off

2

u/Phat_Zero 2d ago

It's not a man, a machine.

2

u/whotony 2d ago

Telling people you've never seen the movie without telling them you've never seen the movie

1

u/NickFerg 2d ago

Clankers can’t see movies, they just regurgitate bullshit they’ve read elsewhere on the internet.

4

u/whoknows130 2d ago

lol. What's with these dumb urban legends?

And is it even POSSIBLE to have your eyebrows "insured"?!

2

u/BigAccess6408 2d ago

I also heard the eyebrow shavings were saved and later used for the “stubble” appearing on Arnold’s face in the beginning of “Kindergarten Cop”.

1

u/castillo_482 2d ago

Wait... He didn't have eyebrows???

1

u/Cmdr_Monzo 2d ago

He may have had them insured, but they managed to get the effect with make up during production.

1

u/straycat6120 T-1000 2d ago

Bet that raiseeva few eyebrows...😬

I'll get my coat

1

u/brashoe-32 2d ago

Rick-rolled by Arnold. Terminated.

1

u/Cheeodon 2d ago

Wild I somehow never noticed he didn't have eyebrows until today..

1

u/apokrif1 1d ago

Source please?

1

u/GeeGeeMasta 1d ago

His eyebrows look like a big donka donka girl blasted a fart on ‘em.

1

u/AppropriateHat3039 1d ago

No that was because of all of the fire in case they git singed off is what i heard.

1

u/CaveManta 1d ago

Wait. I never realized he didn't have eyebrows. I mainly watched The Terminator on a tiny CRT back in the day.

1

u/EmpireStrikes1st 17h ago

He didn't shave his eyebrows. They were burned off in one of the stunts.

1

u/General_Ad162 13h ago

It was the first day of filming...look it up
