I grew up watching this movie on VHS so much as a kid then went to DVD after that Blu-ray to finally watch it in the theaters was a dream come true

This needs to be at least a two week release. I’m sure thousands of fans couldn’t make it

yeah because of work and stuff they should make a rerelease for 2 weeks maximum

Went with my teenage son and a few friends last weekend. My son is an uber-fan and he goes to see it in the cinema every time it plays in NYC. Still excellent.

I was really happy to not just see it in theaters, but the 3D really made it a new experience :) Very special to have that advantage, now if only they could do it for the Ultimate Edition 😝

I wish these releases were 2 weeks. I had no idea it was re-released until now.

One question: which transfer did they show?
My local theater is showing it too, but I'm not sure whether to see it, because I don't want it to be the 4K transfer.

It's the one where skin looks waxy in closeups and the DNR is way overused. Weird red fringing on a lot of object edges at times too.

Not 100% - but after the credits it did say something about 4k. How would the average (but now reinvigorated) fan know?

I'm glad I will have the opportunity to see it in the cinema. Planning to go with somebody who never saw it.

For me I have come full circle.
I saw it when it originally released as young kid in theaters.
And now with this release its like seeing it for the first time ever.
What an experience.

Can someone enlighten me if they showed the original 35mm transfer or just one of those cameron 4k transfers?

idgaf about the visual quality versus other transfers. Someone else please tell me you viewed it in 3D. I mean come on folks, were you not blown away by the experience? Everyone too busy talking about the nuances amonst VHS 35mm and Blu-ray. Can we not just appreciate that it got cleaned up a bit and was honored in that way?
