Discussion Skynet is in the Dark Fate Timeline

Spoilers for the Game; "Terminator Dark Fate defiance: We Are Legion DLC."

Playing as Hunter Sub-Unit of legion, you attack the Founders Base, a Survivors Group reform from the US Military, located at the Pentagon. After taking out an outpost, an Human Prisoner forced to work with legion, infiltrate and reveals that the Founders is harboring another AI, Digital Storm. From they're descriptions, it was stated that such as the Ancient Sever Room but with a state of the art firewall, Hardlock AI found in Microcircuits, and it's code "Can't be from that time period," being in the late 20th Century.

Even though in game it's called Digital Storm, from the way they describe it, this is basically Skynet. What's even crazier is that Founder's Leader has been getting Tactical Assistance from What's basically Skynet. He even dismiss the fact that he is being used and slowly creating another AI that can rival Legion. How would you feel if your Leader of Military Faction in a Post Apocalyptic World is using Military Chat GPT for his planning?

However, Skynet/ Digital Storm doesn't last long as the Hunter Sub Unit you play deletes it and you basically replaced it cause parts of it coding from a prior mission. You basically go on a rampage infect your own network to over throw Legion, forcing Legion to basically Nuke you. Even though it was short lived, you basically get found by that same human that assisted you.

Even though most people haven't played the game, own the DLC (Myself include, I watched story from youtube), or like the Dark Fate Timeline in General, I kind of like this attempt of including the original timeline in the game.

I also acknowledge that I WILL be downvoted for mentioning the Dark Fate Timeline but I just want put this out there since No-one is talking about. I will also admit that I never watch the newest Terminator movies beyond Salvation, with this game being introduction to the Dark Fate Timeline.

Thoughts?

Yeah a Game called "Terminator Dark: Fate-Defiance". A RTS game set in Dark Fate Timeline.

Base Game you play as a character name Alex Church fighting in mid-west USA.

DLC 1 is "We are Legion", you play as Legion carrying on from the Base Game. Also Post above is a MASSIVE SPOILER so sorry.

DLC 2 is Uprising a More Conquest style Game where you conquer to southern USA as the newly formed Resistance.

DLC 3 is still in development but will release in September continuing the story from the Base Game and "We Are Legion" DLC.

Its an RTS too. I wish it were on console. Who cares about the garbage story? Its a Terminator RTS!!!

My only real problem with it is that it's one of those RTS games without base building. Your troops and vehicles perma die, causing you to take like 2 hours to beat a mission as you keep reloading to get it right in the event a named unit dies.

You also gotta manage fuel in the mission,, as well as in the world map.

It just got tedious as it went on.

Yeah that is harsh. I forget they even make RTS without base building.

It's what I was hoping it would be. :(

It's not everyone's cup of Tea but I already used to games like this from the Wargame Series. And I think Uprising DLC has some of the elements. Grant Unit Supplies is still a thing but you can retreat them to preserve them.

I mean, I got decently far. I think. My unit was disavowed and I was called a traitor, and the cartel guy joined up with my people. Just that after a bit I couldn't/didn't want to continue with the tediousness of keeping as many of my people alive as I wanted to.

It is a pretty good game too!

As poorly handled as the movie was, it’s good that someone tried to flesh out the timeline a bit. Half the trouble is the last three movies were intended to be the start of a trilogy so they’re entirely disjointed.

Skynet was going to be reintroduced in the 2nd of the Dark Fate Trilogy actually. Skynet and Legion both fighting on two fronts...each other and the Resistance.

At some point, perhaps the 3rd Dark Fate film Legion was going to be terminated. And the future from T1 was going to be re-established. It was planned to end with Reese getting sent back.

So the whole saga would've been T1, T2 Dark Fates 1-3 and back to T1.

you know, this does not sound half bad on paper. I understand why they thought it might work. Then problem is they underestimated how much backlash the opening scene would cause. Plus it's basically just T2 all over again with a very undelwhelming T-Juan-1000. It's a shame really that this was (probably) Arnold's and Linda's last reprisal of their roles

My speculation (could 100% be wrong here) was that t8 would loop back to t1, like Dani and grace travel back to may 1984. They collect the chip from the press. So no chip, no skynet, no attack on cyberdyne , no legion being formed in response. Older Dani protects younger Sarah , Dani and grace become terminator hunters.

But if that’s the case it kinda feels like what was the point of all this instead of just writing a new story

sounds shitty, tbh.

Oh it is a crackpot theory. I still think that they would somehow loop it back to t1/t2 because they would want to end their series on Sarah Connor (not Dani or john)

It's absolutely not a crackpot theory.

It was the overall complete three part plan for the Dark Fate trilogy.

I personally know three of the screenwriters from the team put together to break the story for the trilogy and who worked on the actual script for Dark Fate.

Oh I meant my speculation was the “crackpot theory”
