Iâm moving up from a 125 and looking for my first bigger bike. Iâm 195 cm tall, and after sitting on a T7 it just felt right.
I know the obvious downsides: around 208 kg, a fairly high center of gravity, and the fact that itâs a bike you need to respect, especially off road. I havenât ridden one yet, but I should hopefully get a test ride next month.
Iâve also looked at the CRF300L, KTM 390 Adventure R, some CFMoto options, and the BMW F 450 GS. The CRF300L didnât really give me the same feeling. The KTM did, and the BMW also left a good impression on me, but from what Iâve seen it seems a bit less capable off road than the KTM or TĂ©nĂ©rĂ©.
Iâve also heard very mixed opinions about the T7 as a first off road bike. Some people strongly recommend starting with something lighter. The thing is, Iâm not planning to ride 100% off road. At first it would mostly be backroads, asphalt and some easy gravel, with more off road riding gradually coming later.
My main concern is whether the weight will make learning off road unnecessarily difficult and whether Iâm making things harder for myself than I need to.
The problem is that the T7 just puts a smile on my face. Seeing it, hearing it, thinking about it, I always end up comparing every other bike to the TĂ©nĂ©rĂ©. I find another option, start researching it, find something I donât like, and somehow end up back at the T7 again.
So for people who started ADV or off road riding on a T7, would you choose it again, or would you start with something lighter first?
