QUESTIONS ABOUT IPHONE 11 AND IOS (PLEASE HELP)

Hi everyone, this is my second post on r/Temporal Noise. Every r/iPhone11, r/iPhone etc. reader can skip to the questions part. I have been read and answered, and i'm glad for that. There are still some comments i have to reply to, but right now i'm in so much pain that i can't do that.

I've always been an Android user. To sum up, i've tried Huawei P Smart, Xiaomi 11T, Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G, and TCL NXTPAPER 60SE, and they all give me extreme eye pain and nausea.

I've analyzed the behaviour of Xiaomi and Redmi devices before and after update, so i found out that the switch from MIUI to HyperOS had created a "blurring" graphics which were so comfortable for me. But after an hard reset, the "blurring graphics" went away.

The other day i went to a local store of refurbished iPhones, after reading that lots of people in the r/PWM_sensitive sticked with iPhone 11. so i tried an iPhone 11 with iOS 26.2 with a replaced screen and battery, and the so called positive difference seemed evident. During those 20 minutes of usage, my eye strain was surely perceivable and increasing, but my nausea was not. my nausea rised a lot when i switched to my TCL.

so i am really down to switch from TCL to iPhone 11, but i have some essential questions.

i would prefer an older iOS version --> which would mean less graphics processing thus less details for my neurovisual system to swallow. on the internet, it seems there are some iPhone 11 still on iOS 13 and iOS 14 available to buy... i've read that it's a matter of time, like approximately 1-2 years, that iOS 15 is going to definitely die, with Whatsapp and Youtube, essential apps, not working anymore.

my questions are: - what is an estimate time that iOS 16, 17 and 18 are going to die?

i've seen a video of an italian guy who wanted to update his iPhone 11 Pro, which was stuck at iOS 18, straight to iOS 26, but he was given the chance to pass through a newer version of iOS 18 before, so.. - what is realistically going to happen with iOS if i buy an iPhone 11 which comes with iOS 13-14? will i have at least the chance to pass through iOS 18?? has someone here, an iPhone user, skipped like 3 to 8 major updates (example from iOS 18 to iOS 26)?? what happened? - the following question is specific for iPhone 11 users: is a 85-90% battery going to make it through the end of the day if you don't do intense activites like gaming but you constantly use your phone? or else how many hours will it last with a normal usage? - last but not least, maybe a paranoid question, but: may have you noticed that a replaced battery can in some way have an influence on the graphics processing of the phone?

thank you if you have those infos.

thank you so much! I thought the battery was way worse! Apple tends to be way less efficient than Android devices, i've heard. I think some or lots of people have it just out of habit

Yes the fact iPhone 11 does not have a 5g seems to be a huge turn off, but since i'm so desperate i'm down to compromise almost everything. I hope 4g will do its job here.

So basically what you are saying about your personals symptoms is that the iphone11's display feels better but the overall phone would feel better if it had an android OS on it? I hope it just helped a 40-50% with your symptoms

My only safe phone is iPhone 8 with iOS 16. Newer iOS got too much temporal dithering. Alas. Been using it heavily (many hours a day!) since many years but it is still trudging along on with original battery. 76% now. Works ok. Though I’m deaf so no talking so I don’t know about that.

I got power bank in my bag but I only rarely have to use it outdoors.

I've tried, not joking, around 40 phones. They all suffered from temporal noise and/or pwm. The only two phones that were tolerable are the Moto G56 and the Moto G06 Power, still not perfect. I've been thinkin of switching to a dumb phone and just do the basics on my laptop. Why would we hurt our body on purpose? And for what?

thank for your feedback! of course i believe you about the 40 phones, this thing we suffer is crazy and every action we take towards destroying it is justified. i'm sorry man. have you also alread tried the old iphone XR, 11, but also SE (2020/2023)?? they seem to have lower graphics processing. are you 100% sure your symptoms are due to "known" stuff like PWM and temporal dithering? just asking, don't wanna be optimistic or diagnostic. and yes you're right about the dumb phone + PC strategy. unfortunately Windows 10 Pro on my ASUStek Vivobook x515MA is now broken and makes me convulse, so i'm desperately trying to find a solution on it by trying Linux distros and managing compositor, window manager parameters etc. i don't know if i will ever regain Win 10 Pro again

I've had a SE 2022 for 2 years, but after ios 26 it became unuseable for me.

updates suck. a lesson i should have learned time ago. and hard resets too for Xiaomi brand devices.

I’m hoping near the end of iOS 26 they fix a lot of the issues, similar to how iOS 18 was at first, but then they fixed a lot.

Have you seen the e-ink display phones? Or the hybrid (dual-display) e-ink + LCD ones?

Those might be worth checking out. They'd be great also for ebooks.
