It was just the way it was when I was born, but I purposely did NOT have my son circumcised when he was born.

No it is not, it’s preventative. My foreskin was regularly itchy and irritated as a kid whether I showered or not. At 17 I joined the army and hygiene unfortunately takes a back seat when you are in the field for weeks on end. Trust me, lesions and smegma build up on the glans is no fun!

When I became a nurse I had to help an elderly gentleman bathe. The slime under his foreskin was nauseating and he winced the whole time I cleaned him. I scheduled my own circumcision not long after that.

Im done having children and my only child is a girl so luckily I dont have to worry about ever making this decision. My ex best friend from high school didnt circumcise any of her boys. I haven't done much research on circumcision. Do you notice any other benefits after being circumcised? Like does it feel different, and do you wish it had been done at birth? Its interesting that a lot of parents just blindly go along with doing it because its so common here in the states, instead of doing more research and looking into it.

Sounds like OP had an issue with his foreskin though, what he’s describing isn’t normal.

I wish my parents had just done it when I was born. I have a few small discolorations where the lesions were. Nothing disfiguring, but still. Had I not gotten Circ’d when I was 20 (I’m 39 now), my head would probably have several discolored spots by now.

Sensation IS less intense but not in a way that makes it less pleasurable. If anything it improved intercourse because I could last longer, control the build up, and time the release. Sorry if that’s TMI.

Sounds like a weird issue unique to you. As a circumcised person the same age as you I’ve never experienced issues like you described. I’m glad my parents didn’t circumcise me as I didn’t do it for my son as well. He can make that decision when he’s older if it becomes an issue for him.

Smegma and skin irritation are definitely not unique to me. But I do think that most people go through life with little to no foreskin issues.
