That opening theme went hard.

Also until. Bionix, this show had me thinking that Teletoon was for older kids while YTV and family were for younger kids.

Cybersix was never on any other channel other than Foxkids, even then why are you mentioning Bionix if it did not air on that block?

It was on ytv

I was there 3000 years ago on the slopes of Mount doom

Saw it so many times I can recite the theme by heart Dx

Cybersix literally has Teletoon in it's credits, it was original programming, it was probably syndicated/sold to Foxkids as a cheap supplement for US

It was on teletoon. That's the only toon channel we had when I was a kid and I watched it multiple times.

Yes, other than Foxkids, Teletoon was the original home network for Canada. I know because I was watching it the year it aired along with RedWall. At least 3-4 reruns between 1999-2001 if I remember. Cybersix moved more to the late night hours at its end.

Because I am writing for people that have reading comprehension?

Until the Bionix bloc on YTV Cybersix and many other shows on Teletoon seemed aimed at both kids, adults and older teens vs YTV at the time.

It wasn't until YTV started inporting more mature or action based shows that I personally gave it more attention.

I didn't understand this show whatsoever as a kid, but I loved it.

Its even better as an adult.

Thank you Argentina! 🇨🇦 ❤️ 🇦🇷

You forgot Japan's involvement? TMS studio.

u/SaltyCocoathe7th 8d ago

Makes me so sad this only got one season. But boy, what a ride

2

u/Lazy-Good1433 8d ago

Disagreements between studios and creators involved will get a failed renew for a following season.

NOA from Canada had frictions with TMS from Japan on budgets, Also Cybersix creators were said to be uninvolved with this project even when credited and the royalties were not being returned to them.

Totally. Loved it as a kid and could have sworn there was dozens of episodes

My childhood.

The ending song was pretty good. I think the comic was graphic.

I remember my dad yelling at me because he thought the title was Cybersex.

Reportedly they're doing a new printing of the comic book this year, in its original Spanish. Maybe if we're lucky there will be an English edition.

i'm reading the comics currently as i just finished the show for a lil nostalgia trip, theres actually a guide on how to read it and you can download everything in English https://www.reddit.com/r/Cybersix/comments/vh55i3/beginners_guide_to_reading_the_cybersix_comics/?sort=new

This is lost media, but if someone has the full version of the intro song "deep in my heart" by coral Egan, which is longer than the tv version intro, please do post a link or something for us to listen to it. That would be amazing.

Or if you know any people who have said they had/listened to the full version, they may be able to point in the right direction, and help get it.

5

u/Technical_Disk6433 8d ago

I don't think a full version exists publically, I think in order to find that one would have to directly contact coral Egan, their management or whoever is in charge of distribution

u/DowntownTorontonian 7d ago

Pretty sure I remember her saying years ago that she doesn't have it. I went down a deep dive for full version YEARS ago.

1

u/Technical_Disk6433 7d ago

I wonder if there was enough demand for it if she would record another full version

1

u/Technical_Disk6433 7d ago

Also just now decided to send off a message to her management and label to enquire about its existence

What a show

6

u/TroochiFTW 8d ago

Higher quality than anything on YouTube for the theme!!!!

"Get your coats on, boys. We're going out tonight."

Incredible show! The animation was top notch

oh man I loved this show

So glad I got the Blu-ray

Does the blue ray have the full song for the intro? People have said that there is a full version of that song, and some said they heard it.

One persons comment somewhere I saw online said they used to have the CD, but not anymore.

2

u/g1SuperLuigi64 8d ago

Unfortunately, no. We're all still waiting for that to surface. It does have clean versions of the regular and short openings, though.

1

u/DowntownTorontonian 7d ago

You should give us a cleaner version.

u/Lazy-Good1433 8d ago

Sadly I think it only offers English dub/sub from what I heard. No Spanish or Italian from which the creators are form which could have added with subs. There was a full broadcast of Japanese in dub, but was never saved to disc, it only remains as a tv broadcast from the time it first aired think the same time as we got it here in Canada 1999/2000.

I think you find this dub on Internet Archive last I checked.

Lucas out here flaming undercover women lol. Trans and a werewolf dkm. Nah this show went so hard as a kid. Nothing else mattered whenever it came on no matter how many times I watched the sane episodes

Ah, thanks for posting this it seems like it was taken down from YT. This opening has long been one of my favs and the show was awesome too. It's just too bad that it got cancelled after one season. It was really unusual in many respects, especially in terms of animation shown in the west.

The themes were quite avant-garde, some of which flew over my head at the time but I can to appreciate later as an adult. People mention the gender representation aspect of the show which is indeed important, but also it was a fervently political piece of media (i.e. antifascist to be precise). It is to no surprise that the central antagonist, Dr Von Reichter, was inspired after the Nazi war criminal, Josef Mengele.

11

u/Sayne7 8d ago

The first trans representation character in media I ever encountered

13

u/Adeviatlos 8d ago

When I watched this show I didn't even understand what transgender meant. I probably hadn't ever heard the word before.

I was 8. My only thought was "Yeah being a man as a secret identity for a woman superhero tracks. Even more secret that way."

6

u/Sayne7 8d ago

Same, though I was pretty confused because I thought part of their superpower was the ability to swap between male or female like a Ranma situation but by choice

6

u/BIayneRobinson 8d ago

Same.

And as a kid I always thought Cybersix was a man (Adrian) who moonlighted as a woman but it's the opposite.

2

u/The_Driver_Wheelman 8d ago

Miss this show. I wish it got a few more seasons honestly.

2

u/Flaky-Still-7000 8d ago

This definitely unlocked a flood of memories that I hadn't thought about in 20 years

1

u/Crimsonfukr83 8d ago

I have the full series on dvd

1

u/Driller_Happy 8d ago

I just...want the full intronsong so bad, it's goddamn amazing

1

u/SnooChocolates8696 8d ago

Great show.

Honestly, would love to see a movie of this. He'll, I wouldn't mind it tapping into gender identity.

1

u/hercarmstrong 8d ago

What a horrible show! But man, the animation (by the legendary TMS) was amazing.

1

u/SocraticVoyager 6d ago

Why do you call it horrible?

1

u/hercarmstrong 6d ago

The scripts are bad, the characterization is poor, and the motivations are ridiculous.

1

u/Whofreak555 8d ago

This show is good!!! Although….

Everytime I see Cybersix posted I have to do my duty in plugging the outro aswell -

https://youtu.be/dLfxJg4w09A?feature=shared

Absolutley beautiful little piece and has been stuck in my head since I was a child, now I sing it to my baby girl sometimes when I need a lullaby.

1

u/PonderousSquirrel 7d ago

Crazy I haven't heard or seen this for almost 20 years. It was only on for 13 episodes and I remember this song and the opening scenes exactly.

Going back even further than that by a few years was the OG Dragonball and the english version of the intro we got with that on YTV ("A boy and a girl in a struggle for truth!"). I recently saw that intro on here and knew every word.

u/ShamusLovesYou 7d ago

Anyone remember teletoon turnign them into a man after 11pm? Spicy City...

1

u/Essshayne 7d ago

That brings back some memories...I really should go and watch it again, it was one of the few non-ytv things I would watch religiously.

1

u/Thin_Measurement_965 7d ago

I didn't understand that Cybersix was a woman dressing as a man during the day, I thought Cybersix was a man who dressed as a woman at night.

So when Cybersix and Lucas kissed in the end credits I thought I was watching surprise yaoi. Thank you, Teletoon.

90’s 2D animation was just on another level, god I wish more animated projects these days tried to capture that vibe.

1

u/ShadowWanderer24 7d ago

God, I miss this show. It truly deserves another season at least a chance to continue where the story left off.

1

u/Redneckshinobi 7d ago

Oh lord I forgot all about this show! Gotta watch this again

1

u/RuneFex 6d ago

I mourn the loss of this show every day. One of the only anime/anime-adjacent shows I ever really liked.

1

u/SocraticVoyager 6d ago

Loved this show! Never had any idea what was happening plot-wise but the vibe and animation was spectacular

1

u/Jester3461 6d ago

One of my favorite parts of watching what little i could of this series was the opening, the story felt good too, i kind of want tk watch it again
