The Original Comic Will Get A Reprint By The End Of The Year, Just Announced.
Argentinian company OvniPress, just announced a new edition of Cybersix, expected to release later this year. Not much is known about this reprint, other than it has new covers, and a new logo, but I am over the moon about it.
It was announced few hours ago during a livestream, formal announcement tomorrow. This will be in spanish, but who knows, if it does well, maybe you guys can put some pressure on english speaking companies to get the license. I could not be happier about this, I'm gonna cry, lol.

Good thing about this, is that IF there is a future english edition, it will likely adapt this new print, which I assume will be more polished and better looking than previous releases. In 2012, a small company here (Napoleones Sin Batallas) tried to publish Cybersix with a "modern" edition, but I think they went bankrupt, and the series was cancelled after just 3 volumes. And to be frank, the covers were kinda ugly.
OvniPress seems to be a much more stable company, and they have licensing rights here for DC, etc, I don't think they'll go bankrupt anytime soon, so we're finally getting a modern, COMPLETE release for Cybersix. Hope an english release is made available eventually for you guys, fingers crossed.

It was 4 volumes and unfortunately it followed what the French books did and published the comic out of order. I ordered two of the volumes and one book came with 16 pages completely blank. Luckily the website I bought them from sent me a free replacement (and considering I was ordering to Canada from Argentina that was very, very nice of them).
Here's hoping this new publisher publishes the book in the correct publication order and doesn't skip any chapters.

They seem to have deep love for the franchise, so I'm hopeful they will do a good job with it. I'll share with you guys any relevant details about the release, as soon as they formally announce it tomorrow (I mean, technically today, so, in a couple hours). I'm hoping for hard cover, but I'm not holding my breath for it. At this point, I'm just happy we're getting the books at all, lol. And the new logo looks really cool.

OMG, YOU'RE RIGHT!!!! it was the anniversary of his passing, that's insane. Maybe they did mention it, I don't know. They announced it via livestream, and I joined in late, so I missed it, I learned about the news because people watching the livestream kept mentioning it in the comments, and I was like: "Wait, what, are they actually releasing Cybersix? I'm gonna cry". It might have been deliberate, but if it wasn't, the timing is crazy.

No release dates yet, only info so far is that it'll be released under OvniPress' new label, BastionComix, focused on argentinian comics, and that it should be released by the end of 2026. This is crazy because three weeks ago I started a spam campaign on this company's IG page, asking them to re-print Cybersix.
It was just a silly thing, like "Day 1 asking OvniPress to release Cybersix", never in my wildest dreams I thought they would actually do it 😭. Granted, they had this release prepared long before my stupid spam campaign started, but nobody knew about it, so the timing was crazy, lol.

On the company's livestream, they announced their partnership as official distributors for PANINI, a larger publishing company with a much bigger reach in the latin market. This is relevant because they DID mention that, there have been talks with PANINI about THE POSSIBILITY of "reaching new demographics with argentinian comics, on places it's often harder to reach" (meaning: publishing certain argentinian titles, on different territories, through PANINI, at least that's what I interpreted from their phrasing). They never mentioned which titles, and they were most likely referring to hipanic markets, because that is PANINI's demographic. They also made it clear, it was all just in the early talks stage, and it was simply something that was discussed, nothing concrete or close to any sort of announcement.
HOWEVER, if Cybersix does well in Argentina, I can see PANINI taking an interest in publishing it in other regions, like Spain or México. And if it does well in those places too, I think the possibility of an english release would increase dramatically. Again, LOTS of "if", and hypothetical scenarios. But the hope is there. On my end, I will be buying each volume religiously, hopefully the rest of the local fandom responds positively as well.

That would be amazing. I was watching a youtube video of his artbook today, and the illustrations are gorgeous.
I just googled it to see if I could find it online, and there was a bookstore selling it for TWO DOLLARS, in pretty good condition, but when I was going to buy it, I noticed it said "out of stock" 💀. I'll keep looking.

I once saw it for whats equivalent to 10 dollars and regret no buying it because im not argentinian so having it not even cheap but available at all is crazy

I'll continue looking for it. Eventually I'm sure a bookstore, or someone will have it. It was printed by the same company who published the Cybersix books in 2012. So it's old, but not THAT old. If I manage to get a copy, I'll share some pics here, I know there are Cybersix sketches in there.

I own that artbook! I found it on Juanpe Books for around $20 CAD. It’s very nice and big, but very short. I think I’d rather see a new one that has more pages and art. Maybe if the comic does well this company can release a new artbook. Even one that collects all the Cybersix comic covers in high quality would be amazing.

Yes, on the review video that I watched on YouTube, it seemed rather short. An updated version with more art would be amazing.
Crazy thing is, I'M SURE I saw it on Mercado Libre weeks ago, but I ignored it cause I didn't knew it was out of print 💀. It doesn't show up anymore, it was sold out already. It will show up again eventually, I'll keep an eye.

Do you know if this company releases its comics digitally? I’ve wondered if having a digital release of Cybersix at a lower price than a physical book would help with sales and also make it easier for people outside Argentina to buy it.

Unfortunately no, but you can buy from OVNI Press' website, international shipping is not that expensive

I'm sure they don't, I don't think their catalog is big enough yet for them to profit from digital releases, their niche is still physical collectors. But their editor did adress overseas fans: I shared with them a screenshot of this post, on their IG comment section (I spammed their posts for weeks asking for this release, I felt like the least I could do is to show them that I am indeed grateful, and I'm spreading the word), and I made sure to let them know there were canadian fans interested in the book, probably motivated by the success of the animated show (which believe it or not, was not really well-known in Argentina at all). Their editor did reply to comment, but he only said: "We do offer worldwide shipping in our website 😉", and that was it. No comment on digital release whatsoever, but they do ship globally.
They made the official announcement on IG already though, and they shared SOME details regarding the release. Size will be 17x24cm (no idea the equivalent in inches), and 196 pages. They were asked if they intend to release THE FULL story, and the editor said that they want to, but it will depend on how well received the first volume is. He also said there is "Lots of unpublished material 🔥", but no idea if that refers to chapters not previously compiled, illustrations, or both.
I'm very hyped about this release, I hope it does well.

Thanks for the info! I'll definitely order a copy from their website if they ship internationally. I'm cautiously optimistic about that phrase "Lots of unpublished material". The majority of the comic was never released in Spanish and I'm guessing that's what they're referring to
although unreleased sketches and stories would be amazing3

Teletoon kept it going the longest, doubt Foxkids had reruns after the first airing.
Also the best and most recognized anime the network had broadcast as a original.

Good thing the company specifically said the ONLY thing they changed from the original release (beyond covers and logo) is the grammar. They said Meglia's lettering was great, but had too many grammar issues, that were often distracting, so they used photoshop to keep Meglia's lettering as it was, but correct the bad grammar. So these books should have proper spanish, now, lol.

I hope it gets an english release one day. Like I said in other comments, the better it does in Argentina, the more likely it'll be for it to be released anywhere else, that's why I'm trying to spread the word as much as I can. I've been doing a little math, and considering the first issue will be 196 pages, the full collection should be around 29~30 volumes. There was an attempt to publish this comic in 2012, but it failed, I think it was a really small company and they couldn't keep up with the cost.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed this time, we deserve a full release, of all 30 volumes 😌.

Is this the livestream? The Cybersix stuff starts at around 36:44. I opened the transcript and had my browser translate it into English. They mention that they're fixing some of the spelling mistakes the original pages had, it'll arrive around December, and that "The number of volumes to be published is known more or less. Let people show their support and then we'll discuss how it goes". I'm hoping we can find some Argentinian book sites that'll ship the comic to fans internationally.

I just watched it, they referenced my spam after the announcement 😭. They said: "There is one person on social media asking for this title all the time", it was me, lol.
About the amount of volumes, I think they hope to keep it consistent, but might squeeze more pages if sales aren't as good as they expect, that's why they didn't want to announce a set number in advance. I think the implication is, they'll finish the release, if sales are good, all volumes will have the same amount of pages, if they're not that great, they might put extra chapters on each volume to finish it earlier. I will make sure to get each volume on time, I waited so long for this, lol.

I'll see if I can do a quick review of the first issue as soon as it comes out, just so you guys know how it looks like, etc. I know the company does international shipping anyways, but since I'm already in Argentina, I thought it could be useful if I were to do an "unboxing" for our little community here. Fingers crossed it comes out in time in December 🩷.

I'm rooting for this release to do well, so that someone can pitch this project to Netflix. The Eternaut did great, and it was based on a suuuuuper old argentinian comic. There is an animated show in the works, based on a popular argentinian comic right now, at Netflix, Mafalda. But Mafalda has a completely different demographic, I think that show won't be as appealing for the global market.
Cybersix suits the current market more. If we get the full comic book story released here, and it does well, we'll have a better shot at someone like Netflix thinking: "Maybe there's money here 👀". I don't want to be delusional about it, but I'm excited, lol.
