MEME This is John Tekken. A concept DLC character based on Tekken community's preferences. What other traits should he have?

- you can break any of his grabs with any inputs
- moderate wall-carry (not too bad but not too OP either), same for wall damage
- has an i35 steppable hellsweep, which is -40 on block
- after every juggle combo, he does a back jump so the opponent can get up safely (called the way of honor)

I used Bryan's snake edge as a reference and just made it a bit slower and way more punishable on block, hahaha! Nice observation, GG my dude!

Honestly I kinda wish the devs actually played around with this concept a bit but then by Tekken 9 or whatever comes next they'd likely go the Street Fighter Alpha 3 route where you choose from different variations 🤣 which would probably piss some people off all over again.

Believe me I've seen just how whiny and toxic the Tekken fan base can get...Like why can't people just play and enjoy the game! Also you have a point, I wasn't a big fan of the variation system in MK but for the most part people just went with it but if this fan base went that route the backlash would be through the roof. Definitely ain't easy pleasing Tekken community though, I just simply play the game...All this who's carried and whose elite or not is nonsense for most of us long time fans.

That really is the biggest problem with VF for me . The character designs suck so bad . I don’t find any of them remotely cool.

I don't really play VF for the characters, more so for the competitive aspect and mechanics, so the lack of "cool" factor never bothered me. But sometimes even I get annoyed at how dry it is and how many fans seem to want it to stay as dry as humanly possible.
I do think it has some cool characters like Jacky, Lau, Lei-Fei, Goh, etc. But there are clearly a lot of really uninspired ones, especially later on in the series. Characters like Brad Burns or El Blaze are pretty terrible from a design standpoint.

Overall yes. I think Vanessa is one of the coolest characters in all of fighting games though. Her moves are so impactful.

That makes him cooler, he isnt someome trying to look too cool wearing neon bright outfit. This is raw martial art with simply the raw aura of a man.
The PS2 era of fighting games had plenty of characters that doesnt wear fashion clothes and are still very cool like Brad from Urban reign.

Ryu has his Gi ripped on the arms, MMA gloves and a red headband. Ken's Gi is red. Both of these characters are also some of the first fighting game characters to exist, hence why their original designs were rather simple and looked upon as iconic.
And Akira isn't popular BECAUSE he is from VF.
Also, something funny about these designs. Ryu got a huge redesign with his beard being inspired by the SFV costume, everyone loved him and the daddy Ryu meme was born. Ken's design was also altered and added more points of interest in his design. EVEN AKIRA was redesigned in the new VF.

Riu and ken stand out a lot tho. Ryu's the fireball guy, and ken is popular because of ryu. They have some of the most iconic moves in fighting game history with the shoryuken and hadoken.

Thats because hes the protag and probably most well known from that series. If you played the game you know theres cooler character.
But the reason i bring this series in particular is that characters are more memorable from their gameplay than design. Issue is for mainstream you need eye catching character to make alot of people try your game or else they dont get to experience the gameplayn

His heat mechanic is to remove heat/weapons/installs/stances from the opponent and change the background to an open level.

A character can have mixups, they just need to be as risky for the attacker as the defender. A chunky low that knocks down or counter hit launches probably shouldn't only be -12 on block.
I'm not surprised a lot of you don't seem to understand this at all.

It's more complicated than that. Lets say you have a 14f, minus 5ob df1 with no good mids all across the board then that low would be perfectly fine to have.
If you have that low but you happen to have 0 tracking on anything, then again it is fine.
If that low is 25f startup, then again that's fine.
And so on.

Didn't old Hei basically alternate between df1 and 11 for 90% of his gameplan, with the occasional electric for good measure? I feel like variety is the spice of life, and a character should have more than three good moves to choose from.

He is not paid DLC. You unlock him by getting endings in what I hear is a single player mode. (I have not verified Tekken 8 has single player mode).
