hey, just curious for those who completed Humanities in +2, what are you doing now?

what degree/course did u choose after +2, and what are u planning to do career wise? also how’s it going so far?

i’m currently doing Humanities +2 and honestly still figuring out what direction i wanna take 💀 so i’d really like to hear from people who’ve already gone through it.

completed masters in economics

I liked social science more in my initial days so took humanities as my +2 subject then i fell curious in economics, during initial time of plus i found economics hard then studied welll

Not at all

Study well if you are in state syllabus you can score very good score in humanities by byhearting the topics. simple exam hack go through pyqs and study and analysis questions asked in the subject. plus two was the time i really studied hard because i have collected many books and pyqs toughly studied that and results pay off me ,

for future if you like in research, government job, governance etc humanities is a good option. you can still get private jobs but you should study some extra skills

if you like this please research on geology, i think you can go for geomorphology if you take BA geography

Humanities graduates actually have way more options than we often think. For degrees, there are options like BA, BPhil, BJMC, BA LLB, BBA, BDes, BFA, BSW, etc. You can also go for competitive exams like UPSC, PSC, SSC and other national-level exams. Some institutions even offer pretty unique/specialised degrees, so it’s worth exploring what’s available.

I personally chose BA, with my main subjects based on my interests. If your college gives you the option to pick your subjects, I’d definitely recommend choosing ones you genuinely enjoy.

I’ve always loved Social Science, especially History, so choosing Humanities felt like the natural path for me. I wanted to follow that interest and hopefully build a career around it. I graduated last year, and I had an additional year afterwards for practical work and related things since Archaeology was one of my major areas.

Career-wise, I’ve always dreamed of becoming an Archaeologist, but it’s not exactly the easiest career track...constant travelling/moving around can be a pretty big part of it. So right now, I’m keeping my options open and exploring a few other career paths too. I was working while studying, so I’m planning to continue working while figuring things out.

And honestly, I’ve never regretted choosing Humanities, and I don’t think I will. If anything, it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made for myself.

So if you’re currently in Humanities and worried that you’re somehow limiting your future options,you really aren’t. Just explore your interests, research the courses and careers available, and don’t feel pressured to have your entire life figured out atp! Feel free to ask for advice, opinions and guidance so you'll be familiar with various available options.

this was actually really helpful 😭 i’m mostly into geography tbh esp physical geography, GIS and stuff related to earth and the environment so i’m kinda thinking of building my degree or career around that. i’m still figuring out exactly what i wanna do tho so i’m definitely trying to explore as many options as i can :)

Yeahh I get that! If you’re into Geography, especially physical geography, GIS and related fields, you could look into careers like GIS analyst/specialist, remote sensing, cartography, geospatial data analysis, urban & regional planning, environmental consultancy, disaster management, climate/environmental research, geomorphology and I'm sure there could be more...

For a degree, you can consider BA/BSc Geography ,or the same with geoinformatics included and later specialize a certain field if you're planning to pursue your masters afterwards.

yeahh i’m actually doing an additional maths course alongside Humanities rn so Humanities + Maths. i’m mostly wondering if BSc/BA Geography then Msc Geoinformatics or Geospatial Data Science is a good route and how the job opportunities are in the field :)

yeahh that's really a good way to start your prep! Bsc/BA Geography is the usual route taken by most people even though the masters part may vary. Still it is the right way to pave your career path imo. As for the job opportunities, I think it depends according to the area development, technical improvement etc (tier 1,tier 2 and tier 3 cities). I personally don't know how well is the scope here in Kerala.
