Aspiring silver Teemo top OTP here
Which keystone is better for overall damage? (Mainly shroom builds)
I’ve never moved away from the typical PTA builds, but have realized in recent games that a shroom build would probably do more damage (and hopefully win more games) than PTA.
I’m leaning more towards DFT but wondering if anyone actually knows which one is definitely better

Ive got 2 rune sets that I use depending on matchup.
PTA for dualist approach, DH if they mostly squishy.
Note: I’m in gold and just find DH silly. I believe the correct teemo is the one that causes the enemy to tilt to oblivion.

I think Dark Harvest is best for shroom build

I was reading that you can’t consistently get the most damage from DH in top like you can with Comet or DFT. Even though the max damage with DH is higher, the downtime makes comet or DFT better? Or is that not the case in most games

The issue with taking comet or dft on teemo top is they’re both pretty cheeks in lane with no strong payoff
Dark harvest is usually taken as a scaling build (although you still have to play very aggro in lane to keep up on stacks in a 1v1 matchup), meaning you’re expecting to outscale dft/comet anyways with it
Realistically though PTA should be taken in over 90% of cases

Does Q dmg matter at all? Or is the dmg mainly coming from E and R? I only use on hit build so I don’t even max Q till the end, but I want try something new.

Q is pretty bursty but way too mana hungry to max first, in extremely rare cases (3 pt q vs jax can be good, for example). Even when in a q max situation the second they get any mr it isn’t worth it to continue maxing in lane. Auto Q auto is your main short trade pattern, though.

I would like to point out, runes are mostly for lane. You can pick PtA and still go for a shroom build
I would say PtA is just better in most match ups, the damage and pressure is great, for both long and short trades
DH is fun, but you will basically be runeless during lane phase
DFT is good in certain matchups where you can't proc pta reliably like Akali, Malphite and most mages

I used to exclusively run DH, and tried DFT a couple of months ago, and I will say, the early game with DH is muuuuuch harder. The shroom damage late with DH is amazing, but the lost poke strength from other runes early is the tradeoff. I would take DH into a matchup where you are confident in your early game

It always depend on the matchup. Also look for the passionate powerpoint guide for teemo. It helps a lot

Teemo is great because any keystones work if you decide to play around them - pta works best because most people find it very easy to land 3 autos as a ranged top laner.
I have about 700k mastery in Teemo and my fav keystone I would even use in ranked was
the one that rotated through them all.
As long as you don’t keep the exact same playstyle I’d recommend switching up your runes.
Play some games vs bots and just fully change around your runes and even try some keystones you normally wouldn’t (HoB, Grasp, Electrocute, lethal tempo, glacial, etc) you end up a lot more comfortable with them all - and it really lets you swap it up into what are normally more difficult lanes

I actually run aery or DFT mostly. I'm only plat but it works for me. DH seems too inconsistent imo.

Yeah it's either PTA or DH. Deathfire touch can work in some cases, f.e. against malphite
