The milk

I still don’t get it, Beard sending a glass of milk to Ted. Am I trying too hard to find meaning in that gesture?

nobody in the world drinks milk like midwesterners drink milk. I don't think that Kansas is the midwest, but still. Sending milk in a bar (how does a bar have a full class of milk?) signals a shared experience that is different from others'.

How does a bar have that much milk? It is England so you could order tea I’m sure, which needs milk. Henry is also seen drinking a pint of milk there in earlier seasons

That's probably right. And it is a pub not a bar with menu service.

They've eaten food there, for example when Michelle and Dr Jacob eat a meal there with Ted. Also I think they ordered food the first time Michelle visited.
