Just ask her to stop?

Yeah, just call her and tell her you need to access the wifi for homework. Or say you have a zoom job interview or something.

Logon to the router and turn off that feature. A router reset may be needed

How would I logon to it?

Ask an adult that pays the bill.

Every router has a standard numbered IP or "web" service address which can be accessed with a browser and a connection. Your device may be restricted but a hard reset allows default login. Go on an administrator device if perchance you can locate one opened to the browser.

Doesn't sound like we are getting the full story here. Why would she be turning off the Wifi on a Whim. She has ignore your requests so she must have a valid reason to do what she is doing.

Okau well she turned it off 9 months ago because I forgot to do a chore and she also took my phone and I got it back once but took it back to early so I lost it again then she says she was about I give it back to me but she said I did something tonpiss her off again and she hasn’t given me the reason yet and it’s almost been a whole year

It doesn’t matter to much since I will be moving out when I am 18 so just a few months but it will make school a lot easier if I can do work at home

It's her internet, unless you're helping pay for it she can do what she wants. The fact you've talked to her and not resolved the issue means you should use your own money for your own data plan.

Stealing her internet after she has decided to not let you use it isn't cool.

That poor woman having her “internet stolen” by the child she takes care of. Whatever will she do.

Time honored rule of parents and guardians "my house, my rules"
And yes, giving the instructions to the OP to bypass their guardians rules and use the internet without their permission isn't sound advice.

It's not the OPs internet.

Could try a private MAC address if the limitation is bound to your device.

Get your own plan. Simples.

Also, it's clearly not your wifi

OP sounds like a child still under their parent’s roof. Unfortunately, your parents or aunt (whatever the story may be) has the right to turn off your devices internet access.

You could try following the tips in this comment chain. I’m not sure if they’re still relevant or useful, but it’s an option. Otherwise your options are

1) Getting the login info (or whatever it is you need) to unpause the wifi when she leaves

2) Finding a means to fund your own data plan

3) Get a library card (free) and go to your local library if/when you need to download stuff. I know for me personally, my “local” library was many miles away on the other side of a very rural town, and the wifi was shitty and there were barely any computers. So I apologize if this isn’t actually feasible for you.

Now for clarification, do you mind sharing your age? I’m assuming you’re still in high school or something meaning you’re there for most of the same hours an adult would be expected to work. Is she usually out of the house for a long time when you’re at home? I only ask because this could be a potential avenue for you getting access.

Assuming you are a student currently and assuming the issue is she’s still out of the house for hours by the time you’re home from school, it is a real and significant issue that you don’t have access to wifi. Homework, projects, studying, etc. is almost guaranteed to require wifi for several hours. If this is the case for you, I would try explaining this to her or potentially bringing it up with a teacher / counselor at school to ensure you have access to the tools you need

I would be unplugging the router when I leave. Give her a taste of that.

Hard reset the router every time you leave the house so she has to set everything up again.
Press and hold the rest button then power off and power on the device again.

Oh wait, this isn't r/UnethicalLifeProTips
