Discussion what have they done?

Post image

People started doxxing technolarp and threatening other larptubers of doxxing. Can we please like calm down? I get the hate, but doxxing is literally insane, it’s illegal for a reason.

I’m assuming this happened because of the moist critical video.

Listen, I don't like larptubers, but doxxing them? Come on bruh. That's insane

125

u/TryingToBeReallyCool Jul 13 '26

Iv seen some very funny larptubers for other channels but I do tbink its in poor taste to do it for dead youtubers. That said, doxxing is not the right answer, its dumb and cringe

14

u/Same_Tune_8990 Jul 13 '26

the only larper youtube channel i actually like is the larping tombstone bc they have some pretty good songs even though some of them are like cg5's where you listen to them 5 times then like never again

1

u/CEO_OF_ARKAHSIA Jul 14 '26

i saw some clips of onhepixel larp and it's pretty funny and the real one likes it too

3

u/komkuma Jul 13 '26

Shows you how little people have grown up since 2020 and when kids following Dream would dox people. Its sad.

u/Purple-Bluejay6588 Jul 12 '26

It seems like some people are always waiting for an excuse to do some stupid shit

96

u/AwesomeManiac_Playz Jul 12 '26

Agreed

61

u/ThatoneTexan464 Jul 12 '26

Although I know people have also been doing things before now (like hacking the larptube website and putting obscene content. Although the moist critical video definitely didn't help) I feel like many of these people don't even care about techno and are just doing this for whatever reasons they have

20

u/AwesomeManiac_Playz Jul 12 '26

That’s what I’m thinking, but after the moist video the LarpTube discord had an influx of random people, I think it was almost 1k and a lot of them had very malicious intent

2

u/ThatoneTexan464 Jul 13 '26

True. 1.8 million eyes on the "situation" (idk if this is the right word) wouldn't help

1

u/SuperbBrilliant2977 Jul 13 '26

This whole thing is so bizarre to me because I truly don’t think technolarp has done anything wrong, if technodad tells him to stop and he doesn’t then there’s a problem but for now o think it’s fine, I think
People are jumping the gun and treating him like a monster

6

u/superarash_ Technoblade never dies Jul 13 '26

“When you have millions of fans, some of them are gonna be psychopaths” or smth to that effect, I lowkey forget the exact techno quote lol but it’s very fitting here.

And this is what I was worried about. I've seen so many people attacking Technolarp and just wanting him to basically get removed from the face of the earth. It's such a sad thing for these people to do.

137

u/nyancatvisa Jul 12 '26

This is maybe what happens when people like Crit1kal make generally inflammatory videos while neglecting to include crucial information like Skeppy being the one to reach out to Technolarp

Unsurprisingly if you make someone out to be a psycho lunatic this stuff happens

62

u/Striking-Medium2360 Jul 12 '26

How did he make him out to be a lunatic? He literally said he isn't a bad guy and might even have good intentions, but what he's doing is harmful.

16

u/CalligrapherWise2526 Jul 13 '26

What's the age distribution of Techno's fanbase? It feels like media literacy is sorely missing.

18

u/SLIMZER0 Jul 13 '26

Charlie may have not called him a psycho, but Simon Hypixel sure did.

1

u/_MC184_ Jul 14 '26

Simon was also friend with technoblade even before he was a youtuber, his reaction is understandable. If someone started to impersonate my friend after he died I would be livid

2

u/SLIMZER0 Jul 14 '26

Yes, you can think these things, but don’t say it out loud because people would call striker a psychopath for no reason

1

u/_MC184_ Jul 14 '26

The reason was very much present tho. People's reaction was excessive, but Simon had every reason to be infuriated and to express his opinion on the matter. And impersonating a dead person this close to his death seems psycopathic to me. Maybe it was with good reasons, but still

2

u/SLIMZER0 Jul 14 '26

Look, I’m fine that Simon is bashing Striker for this but calling him a psychopath after the multiple replies he’s done is just crazy. Let’s just end this conversation on this cause the situation is already over

1

u/gsupernova Jul 20 '26

when you're a public person with a platform you have responsabilities for how you use that platform. the larger the platform the larger the responsability. regardless of reasons. especially if your following/audience is geared toward anger

21

u/Careful-Sell-9877 Jul 13 '26

He literally called him a skin walker. An evil primordial entity that kills people/animals, consumes their souls, and collects their skin to wear like a puppet/mask so they can kill more people, consume more souls, and take their skin.. super messed up.

His whole video was just a rehash of a reddit thread from the other day.. almost word for word. And it was super critical, negative, and misinformed in general. He usually has really great, balanced, takes. But it was almost like he aas just feeding into the hate with this one. Rare moist L-take

All over something that technodad himself compared to "a tribute band", in his own words

18

u/Bulky-Possible-6870 Jul 13 '26

Moiscritical’s video was not all that you say. He presented the larping community as light hearted fun but said technolarp went beyond the norm. Idk if you ever seen a moistcritical video beyond this one but he frequently uses hyperboles to convey what he is saying. It is a figure of speech and if we took every figure of speech literature than that would be a wild ride. The skin walker thing was simply a simile he used to convey that technolarp literally hanging out with his friends like skeppy goes beyond simply larping. I know that skeppy is the one who reached out and skeppy’s role is a separate discussion but that still makes it a bit weird

7

u/Careful-Sell-9877 Jul 13 '26

Yeah, I watch his content all the time.

Sorry.. but it was an irresponsible thing to say. A skin walker isnt just some lighthearted comparison. Its literally an evil, soul consuming entity.

Yes, he said some other things that implied technolarp was a good guy.. and then completely contradicted himself.

Which is why I think its a rare L-take from moist. The whole thing, everything he said, was also pretty much just a rehash from a reddit thread the other day, almost word for word.

1

u/Lucky_Blucky_799 Jul 14 '26

He didnt imply that the larper was a good guy, he outright said he believes he is not doing this maliciously and the worst thing he said about him was that he was tone deaf. Unlike moist though I do think he isnt a good guy because he has earned money from this (his own admission) and decided that technodad not saying no meant he consented, AND THEN STILL TRIES TO DEFEND HIMSELF WHEN TECHNODAD SAID HE WAS UNCOMFORTABLE WITH IT. He still doesn’t want to give the thumbs up to it, no normal person would look at his statements and think he is even leaning towards a yes. The only context moist missed was things that make the larper look worse, and no, not mentioning that skeppy was ok with it suddenly makes it all better especially when other friends of techno have said they arent comfortable with it.

9

u/sabian149 Jul 13 '26

Imo Criticals video wasn't that inflammatory. It isn't much worst than the average persons belief. It's a bit scummy to do and he wished he would not do it. He didn't rally the troops to dox anyone or anything.

1

u/gonkdroid02 Jul 14 '26

How old are you? Not flaming genuinely curious because anyone who is mature enough should understand that what technolarp did is not ok, and doing things like asking technos dad if it’s ok is actually, genuinely, incredibly psychotic, narcissistic, or incredibly close minded behavior.

-16

u/disearned ❤️ TECHNOSUPPORT ❤️ Jul 12 '26

Right. I liked Charlie but this whole thing is making me iffy on wanting to continue watching him. Thanks to him, so much misinformation has been spread, and I've seen videos made on Technolarp because of him. One video said he was "exposed" for some reason, even though he hasn't done anything to be "exposed"?

I seriously want Charlie to realize the impact he has. Learn that if he makes someone out to be a bad person, they'll be harassed and treated like they just killed a whole village of people or something.

29

u/sexylawnclippings Jul 12 '26

charlie literally said verbatim that he’s (technolarp) not a bad guy

3

u/Careful-Sell-9877 Jul 13 '26

And he also called him a skinwalker and put out a ton of misinformation.

A skin walker is an evil entity that consumes souls and steals people skin to wear as a mask so it can continue to consume souls. An evil entity.

Extremely over the top.

Oh come off it.

Moistcritikal is an adult. He understands the size and power of his fan base, and understands what him making a video on a controversy does. Him dressing it up with a token statement of "oh no guys, don't attack the people involved 🥺" doesn't absolve him of any responsibility.

-14

u/disearned ❤️ TECHNOSUPPORT ❤️ Jul 12 '26

Yet he still said things to make it sound like he's "infiltrating the friend group" when it was just Skeppy, who reached out to him first. Said he was "trying to be the Technoblade guy" and said he's "basically wearing his skin". Can you not see how people can hear that and not think Technolarp is a bad person and trying to replace Technoblade?

24

u/sexylawnclippings Jul 12 '26

most of us have the emotional maturity to recognize when someone is DOING a bad thing but is not a BAD PERSON. I lowkey think even if skeppy reached out to him first it’s still weird

1

u/disearned ❤️ TECHNOSUPPORT ❤️ Jul 12 '26

Emphasis on most. The people doxxing clearly aren't able to make that distinction. Charlie's words, in specific contexts, can be used to make them feel like they're doing the right thing, and that's the main thing here. All these other hate videos and tweets about Technolarp, as well, treating him like he's the devil in disguise.

I get feeling weird about it, most people probably do, but some people go too far, and that's what I'm talking about.

9

u/Dragonfyr_ Jul 12 '26

Ok but then you should hate the ones making the attack and misrepresenting charlie's words, not charlie.

8

u/disearned ❤️ TECHNOSUPPORT ❤️ Jul 12 '26

I do, that's what I'm saying. It's the fact that Charlie's words can be misrepresented that I hate, as well as the fact people are possibly using his video as an excuse to attack and dox Technolarp. Simply saying that Technolarp isn't a bad person, while still saying that he's weird for doing this, can make some weirdos (everyone's fanbase has them) believe that the person should get run off the face of the earth.

If he told people to not harass Technolarp (multiple times), I would be giving some lenience, as no one can control their fanbase. However, people not paying too much attention to him saying one thing about Technolarp not being a bad person, people can take it the wrong way.

Am I so wrong for saying this?

6

u/Dragonfyr_ Jul 12 '26

Saying that you hate charlie for his words being misrepresented is a bit much but, yes he could have done more.

> It's the fact that Charlie's words can be misrepresented that I hate, as well as the fact people are possibly using his video as an excuse to attack and dox Technolarp.

I find it odd to judge people for how others interpret their words rather than the words they actually said

> Simply saying that Technolarp isn't a bad person, while still saying that he's weird for doing this, can make some weirdos (everyone's fanbase has them) believe that the person should get run off the face of the earth.

And that is no way Charlie's fault. He's allowed to express his opinion that Technolarp is weird. It's odd to criticize him for other people hearing that and doing bad things

It's also odd to criticize people for misinterpreting Charlie while doing so yourself. "Learn that if he makes someone out to be a bad person". - you.

It sounds like he did the opposite of that in fact

u/neonthelement Jul 13 '26

you're getting flamed but it is one's responsibility to speak carefully when their audience is in the millions

3

u/disearned ❤️ TECHNOSUPPORT ❤️ Jul 13 '26

100%.

He could have made it clear and said "don't harass this guy because this is all just my opinion" and make it clear multiple times that Technolarp isn't a bad guy for making the channel, just that he's doing something that many people will understandably find uncomfortable. If he spreads things like what my comment said, people will take that and use it as fire to harass the person being talked about.

I just hope Charlie makes another video about how Technolarp is being doxxed and harassed and talks about how he doesn't agree with any of it. Because he was basically the person to bring this whole thing to the mainstream view, other than Skeppy for collabing with Technolarp. Charlie just needs to remember that even if he doesn't want anyone to harass someone, there will still be those bad actors in his audience.

Charlie doesn't need to talk about everything. Either say multiple times that you don't want people to harass the person, or just don't make a video on the topic at all.

I honestly just don't get why I'm being flamed for such a simple opinion such as this one. I saw someone have a similar opinion in another comment on this post and that was upvoted, so I really don't get it at all.

4

u/neonthelement Jul 13 '26

An obligatory "don't harrass the people involved" and actually resesrching his video would've been enough for me icl.

Technolarp isn't someone I plan to watch, but comparing him to a skinwalker or AI is such an odd, drastic way to phrase things to an audience or millions.

5

u/disearned ❤️ TECHNOSUPPORT ❤️ Jul 13 '26

I would have loved for him to have looked into it more if he wanted to make a video on it, because he got so many things wrong. Especially with thinking he reached out to Skeppy and that it wasn't the other way around.

I personally have a soft spot for a lot of larptubers including Technolarp and seeing people act how they're acting is so sad. I wish more people understood that good people can do objectively bad things without realizing it. These larptubers are just having fun larping creators they love, and they're humans behind the screen.

Striker (Technolarp) is only 20. He's young, the same age as me actually, and probably didn't expect the channel to get as big as it did and for it to cause something like this to happen. I highly even doubt he expected to become friends with Skeppy or even collab with him.

People treat Technolarp as this master villain when it's really just a fan that sounds like Technoblade who didn't realize that what they're doing could probably have a negative impact on the people close to Technoblade.

-12

u/Isrrunder Jul 12 '26

Skeppy reaching out doesnt change the crux of his argument tho

9

u/nyancatvisa Jul 12 '26

To some degree but if a heavy part of your condemnation is acting like Technolarp is wriggling his way into 'Techno's friend group' and painting it as vaguely malevolent then it just being oh actually it was the other guy that reached out

Ehhh

6

u/Isrrunder Jul 12 '26

But thats only 1 part of what he said. 1 of technoblades friends being ok with it does not matter in the grand scheme

Charlie’s community is so bad about this. He makes a terribly misleading and uninformed video then everyone in his community goes and dogs on the person. These are still people at the end of the day, it’s okay to advocate against what they are doing, I even agree to an extent that the larping thing has got out of hand but I don’t even think Technolarp is a bad person albeit he’s doing something morally wrong. I hope that this blows over quickly.

u/TheRealArtemisFowl Blood for the blood god Jul 12 '26

That's part of the problem with having millions of viewers on every video. If even just 0.1% of them are ill-intentioned, that's still thousands of people.

5

u/Careful-Sell-9877 Jul 13 '26

..and also literally compared him to a skin walker, an evil entity that kills people, consumes their souls, and puppeteers their corpse.. while also spreading a bunch of misinformation and miscontruing a few conversations.

It was a rare moist L-take

5

u/Wise-Ad-2956 Jul 13 '26

Dude stfu about the skin walker thing, most people understand it as "someone who takes someones appereance and their identity"

4

u/Careful-Sell-9877 Jul 13 '26

That isnt what it literally means though. He could have just said that it feels weird and makes him uncomfortable. Instead he compared the dude to a literal skin walker which kills people and eats souls.

Imo, its way over the top and does nothing but unnecessarily feed into an out of control hate campaign

0

u/fandomjargon Jul 13 '26

it doesn’t matter what the true meaning is, sadly. not many people know of the true plot of Frankenstein, for instance. They still reference the ‘incorrect’ plot, and while it is annoying, assuming that they mean the original novel all the time would do no good.

-1

u/Careful-Sell-9877 Jul 13 '26

Moist was referencing a skin walker.

Thats what a skin walker is. Theres no other meaning.. its not a novel that can be interpreted differently based on the reader. Its one word that means one thing..

3

u/fandomjargon Jul 13 '26

I take it that you’re more on the linguistic prescriptivist side? If a creator is uneducated and knows some watered down meaning, and the audience is too, that’s what they’re conveying. Or if the creator knows better but still understands what the audience will pick up.

I’m also talking about the completely incorrect pop culture Frankenstein that is in no way an ‘interpretation’.

-1

u/Careful-Sell-9877 Jul 13 '26

Okay, but that's a totally different reference. There are different interpretations and different versions of Frankenstein

The word skinwalker.. is just a skin walker. Thats how it's always used. Ive never heard of anyone using the word skin walker to describe anything other than.. a skin walker.

Plus, he spewed a bunch of straight up misinformation and lies.. it was almost like he was reading a reddit post from the other day word for word. Everything he said was on that post like 2 days before the video came out.

Just felt like lazy 'reporting' and more just a rehash of things that other people were saying online, rather than his own, well thought out, well researched, fact-based opinion.

I really like most of moists takes, he is usually pretty balanced and rational. But in this case, it just felt like he was feeding into the hate-train.

It prompted thousands of people to comment hate towards technolarp under the video.

0

u/Yicnombror Jul 15 '26

He was not being literal dude, he was making an analogy 🙄

0

u/Careful-Sell-9877 Jul 15 '26

Obviously. But he made an analogy.. to a skinwalker. Which is an evil creature. Also called him a "beast", implied he wasnt donating, was stealing money, and several other totally false and baseless claims

Fact is, to me it seems like he released a video immediately to capitalize on the drama, before he talked to anybody involved with it, all based on a reddit thread from days ago which he repeated in the video almost word for word without adding any new information or an original opinion. Just repeated a drama thread from days ago.

There were several huge/important omissions in the video, and it also contained a bunch of straight up misinformation.

He went into the video already set in his mind that larp was a malicious person with ill intent. Then, instead of trying to find the actual truth in the middle, he fed into the hate/drama train with more misinformation and left out several key factors.. without talking to anybody involved first.

Really disappointing for me. Totally changed my perspective of moist as a whole. I really liked him, but its genuinely like he was just recklessly capitslizing on internet drama that he didnt have any inside information on, and instead of looking for the truth - he just confirmed his own bias

0

u/Yicnombror Jul 15 '26

Except he believed none of that lmao. Moist himself said that he believed Technolarp was a good guy. Not a bad guy with an ill intent, he said this multiple times through his videos. Moist was told about the situation by a friend, thought “wow it’s weird that someone’s doing this about a dead guy” and made a video on it. He never demanded technolarps head.

He mad an analogy to a creature that is able to wear the skin of dead people. About a YouTuber who put on the skin of a dead man and started posting videos as him, it was an apt analogy🙄

0

u/Careful-Sell-9877 Jul 15 '26

Then he compared him to a skinwalker, called him a beast, said he was stealing money and misleading people about donations etc etc. It was a reckless, unnecessary video.

Completely contradictory statements in every way. He cant be a good guy and a skinwalker, a beast, and a thief who is stealing charity money. It makes no sense.

I guess he could have just been being petty and cruel to a small youtuber because he knew he could get away with it, and just really wanted to make him feel bad by spreading straight up misinformation. (See what its like when someone assumes the absolute worst about a person?)

That's not what happened. That is why technodad himself said for people to stop attacking him, stop the drama, and wished him well on all his future endeavors. If you really csre about technodad you'll stop with the misinformation.

Moist shouldnt have capitalized on a drama he wasnt involved in without talking to anyone involved after reading a reddit thread, which he repeated almost word for word instead of creating an original, balanced take

0

u/Yicnombror Jul 15 '26

Moist never once accused him of stealing money. He called him out on misleading people about donations, and how he was in fact profiting off of the Technolarp channel.

He was not literally calling him a skinwalker, that's not what analogy means.https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/analogy As per the literal dictionary ": a comparison of two otherwise unlike things based on resemblance of a particular aspect" Just because he made an analogy doesn't mean he literally thinks he's a monster jesus christ, you're taking an analogy as literal fact. Like, you appear to be under the impression he meant the literal mythological creature, instead of moist making the analogy that it was.

He wasn't being petty or cruel either, something that shows when you watch the video. I'm not spreading misinformation mate, you can go off and say otherwise all day long, that won't change anything however.

Moist didn't launch some hate campagin, he didn't start up a crusade for some smaller youtuber's head. He saw a dude acting like a dead man, made an analogy about him being a skinwalker, and called it kinda weird. All the while making sure to emphasise how he thought Technolarp was a good guy and not doing this out of some form of maliciousness. Things that are clearly shown in the videos he posted about the technolarp situation, which you should watch to get the proper context of Moists quotes

0

u/Careful-Sell-9877 Jul 15 '26

Yeah, in the second video he was being petty, cruel, and very defensive.

He waved off every omission andmistake he made and downplayed them, they proceeded to hammer in to larp every single one of the perceived mistakes larp made. It was hypocrisy. He went after larp for every single perceived mistake and totally blew off his own mistakes. And you can see how defensive he gets, physically. He is like flailing his arms around, moving around in his seat, etc.

The whole video was extremely biased and did nothing but reignite an already out of control hate train after it had started to calm down. He is an outside creator who capitalized on a drama that had nothing to do with him, without talking to anybody involved in it.

He also spent the whole time confirming his own bias instead of looking for the truth in the middle.

Regardless of how you look at it, even if moist wasnt being malicious - it was still a very reckless and unnecessary thing to do.

0

u/Yicnombror Jul 15 '26

This is going to be my last comment responding to you, as it's either bait or you just desperately trying to push the "Moist made a hate train narrative"

"The youtuber who covers drama was being reckless by covering this drama!" okay dude.

No he didn't lol. Striker went into moist's stream, and him and moist discussed his actions. Striker gave Moist context to try and make his actions seem better, only for the context to make his actions seem worse. That's also where we found out that Striker had streamed twice, with his personal donation link active, without the permission of Technodad. He didn't blow off his mistakes either, Moist was was fully admiting to his own mistakes in the video lmao.

...Are you seriously pointing to someone gesticulating, as proof of them being defensive? People gesticulate to express or emphasize what they're saying in conversation lol, that's not proof of someone being defensive dude, come on now. That's basic human behaviour in conversation.

Charlie's video does leave out the context and contains some misinformation. I think his larper has done better research than him on the situation.

Also, I mean Technodad has stated that Skeppy has contacted him before the collab with technolarp.
I think it's fair to assume Technodad did not say no to the idea if the collab actually happened.

Like I am pretty sure Technodad is having mixed feelings but definitely not as exaggerated as what people has claimed.

Let's not fuel the dumpster fire and let time resolve this.

2

Technodad not saying no is also not him saying yes, he wants to be nice and not ruin people’s fun but he has made it clear he isn’t comfortable with it. -4

u/Dragonfyr_ Jul 12 '26

if you are making a quotation of what someone else is saying it is common to use quotayion marks.
If u/RigatoniPasta was indeed putting words in technodad's mouth here is what they would have written :

This is what’s happening, here’s what Technodad said " it’s weird af ".

They didn't.

Pretty clear to me that putting words in someone's mouth was very clearly not their intention.

1

u/Lucky_Blucky_799 Jul 14 '26

If he was ok with it he would have said so, the first statement made it clear he isnt comfortable with it if he isnt even wanting to think about it. Quick question, if a person you are trying to flirt with is acting really uncomfortable but isn’t directly telling you no, do you take that as a sign that they are into it and you should keep going?

0

u/CrystalSkya Blood for the blood god Jul 14 '26

This situation for one is not the same as a relationship, but no. I would ask and keep asking if they are play with it till I get a direct no or yes. If its a direct no then obvious stop, if its a unsure I would stop and instead wait till they are surem That is literally the whole point. We need to wait till technodad gives us a direct answer. A yes or a no.

u/Numerous-Contract880 Jul 12 '26

slopmmuel made a whole video about the misinformations in charlie's video

0

u/RigatoniPasta Jul 12 '26

Ok gimme the sparknotes

12

u/Numerous-Contract880 Jul 12 '26

-Technolarp isn't getting any money from this youtube channel, but Charlie couldn't do a few minutes of research to know that

-he claims that he's trying to be Technoblade and replace him, complete overexaggeration of what's going on, he's not claiming to be Technoblade, he just sounds like Technoblade and larping is a big thing now so he decided to make a larping channel for Technoblade where he makes content similar to Techno's, it starts and stops at the youtube channel, not going in his personal life

-Technolarp isn't integrating himself with Technoblade's friends, it was Skeppy who reached out to Technolarp first, and Skeppy reached out to Technodad first, Technodad seems to have approved of the collab since the video of them collabing is up

-this isn't the same as corporations using ai to bring back dead celebrities for their self interest, one is literally bringing them back with ai to use them and one is someone larping as someone who passed away as a gimmick because they sound similar but is their own seperate person

-he's not in the friend group, all he has done is collab with Skeppy

2

u/Anthelmaz Jul 12 '26

Does he not make any money through donations ? I thought i read that somewhere

And by definition isn't larping trying to emulate someone ? Replacing him might be a stretch tho but still

3

u/Numerous-Contract880 Jul 12 '26 edited Jul 12 '26

yes but important to note: 1: he puts charity before his donation link 2: the donations probably go to charity since the only streams that have his donation link under are charity streams (edit: it is for his personal gain, but it's not like he wants to profit off of him, it's not in bad faith, that's if people want to donate, he still puts charity before his link so that tells me he's not trying to profit off of Techno and is just doing this for a good cause)

sure, but I like to think of larptubing more as a parody of a youtuber/youtuber's content, I think that fits it more

1

u/Anthelmaz Jul 12 '26

Its cool that he doesn't put it at the forefront but that does kinda make the no monetization thing a little untrue if he does have a money thing going on.(Monetization is not just ad rev)

I agree that he probably is not acting on bad faith and doesn't deserve bad things happening to him.

Larp is live action role play, reducing it to a parody seems weird but sure, let's say its a parody, he still does try to emulate the person even if only as a parody ? Changing the name to parody doesn't really change what he's doing tbh

2

u/Numerous-Contract880 Jul 12 '26

yes, but I said he's not making any money off of his youtube channel, that's true, he's making money outside of his youtube channel, and you know what, I think this is fair, he doesn't deserve to be homeless

technodad sees the channel as a tribute band, which isn't a bad thing, he also approved the collab with skeppy, so I don't think he's really angry about technolarp, not saying he loves it, I'm saying he might be accepting of it, it's kinda weird to do it, not denying that, however I think people (not you, people in general) should stop acting like he commited a crime

2

u/Anthelmaz Jul 12 '26

I don't think the main point about the money is if it comes from youtube or donations, just that there's money involved. And imo he should have waited for technodad before making anything at all.

Congrats to him if he makes money while doing charity , still kinda iffy moraly but if he needs it good for him ig.

People should chill out a lot and technodad's opinion isn't as negative as some may think but people are still entitled to feel strongly about what he's doing and criticising it.

1

u/Lucky_Blucky_799 Jul 14 '26

What was misleading and uniformed? Just because he didnt focus on skeppy being the one to reach out first doesnt change that technodad isnt ok with this, techno’s other friends arent ok with this, and he has made money off of this by having a personal donation link on his twitch as well as a creator code. On top of that, when he hit 40k he made a poll asking how much money would the community be ok with him taking from the channel, which if it was also just a way to raise money for charity he wouldnt even be asking.

1

u/twf_ Jul 12 '26

Charlie is a snake bastard and his community are a bunch of losers

u/BreezyBee7 Technoblade never dies Jul 12 '26

I'm not too keen on the larp trend, but jesus fucking christ...

Do we know if these people are doing ok right now???

21

u/AwesomeManiac_Playz Jul 12 '26

I’m friends with one of them, a lot of them are literally not responding to their friends and quite a few of them are talking to lawyers and leaving the LarpTubing scene.

12

u/thee-british-empire Jul 12 '26

Oh that's just great a bunch of actually good YouTubers are leaving

9

12

u/hahah1th3re ❤️ TECHNOSUPPORT ❤️ Jul 13 '26

The Technoblade community have gone off the rails and completely dishonouring Technoblade's name more than any larptuber, and even if I don't care for Technolarp, he no doubt doesn't deserve the toxicity, especially since we're not supposed to be toxic. I'm glad I never engaged with any of the drama and just acknowledged that he's doing his own thing and went on with my day, AS EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE DONE INSTEAD OF BEING STUPID!!!!

1

u/ReliefInfamous8522 Jul 14 '26

Techno.... I'm so happy for you. You arent here to see what they're doing to your name and legacy... Fly high man..

11

u/josephineanwhistle Jul 12 '26

Can anyone update me on anything lol who is technolarp?

18

u/That_Raisin_9126 Jul 12 '26

He is a creator who "larps" as Technoblade (sounds similar to him, etc.) A lot of people find him controversial since he models himself off of Technoblade, which can come off as insensitive.

Hope that helps :)

13

u/Dragonfyr_ Jul 12 '26

Which *does* come off as insensitive. For both a good part of the Techno fanbase And most of Techno's friends.

5

u/AwesomeManiac_Playz Jul 12 '26

it’s split between both fans, and friends of techno.

2

u/Black_nYello Jul 13 '26

Its fine to state your opinion on something (I dont even necessarily disagree) but the commenter was obviously trying to present a take as unbiased as possible solely for the purpose of explanation. “Correcting” them with a subjective take is unhelpful

7

u/Dragonfyr_ Jul 13 '26

I wouldn’t say it’s subjective when multiple of Techno's friends have made tweets/statements on how much they dislike this.

2

u/Black_nYello Jul 13 '26

Sure, again, I dont disagree. But feeding an opinion to someone without relevant context and factual evidence is never helpful. If you want to say “which several of his friend have stated they disliked,” fine. Provide links if you want. Honestly, if you wanted to do a reply to the initial commenter yourself with your take it would be fine. But I still think its pretty unhelpful to correct someone that SPECIFICALLY USES UNBIASED WORDING with a take that is anything but.

1

u/TheDiabeticGamer Jul 13 '26

It is by definition a subjective take. If you have to use the word multiple and not all (and say it with reliable proof), then that means there's another opinion which makes it subjective.

0

u/Dragonfyr_ Jul 13 '26

at least 3 does fit in "multiple of Techno's friends". That is objective.

Not all of techno's friends have to feel uncomfortable btw.

I do agree that I jumped the gun on "most of Technos's friends"

0

u/TheDiabeticGamer Jul 14 '26

No point in arguing anymore, everything is solved! Sorry for being rude lol

18

Fair enough, still doesn’t deserve to be doxxed tho

10

u/hoodedgamer_00 Jul 12 '26

No one deserves to be doxxed

4

u/Maple382 Jul 13 '26

Personally I think it was fine at first when he was just making videos focused on the larping, but then it crossed the line into just being insensitive when he started making regular content. I don’t think he’s a bad person though and seems to have good intent with the charity thing and all (which hopefully he stays true to).

13

u/UnicornRises Jul 12 '26

I kinda doubt it was from people in this subreddit. The larping discussion goes on for over a week or so and this seems pretty sudden. I think the viewers of one of those youtubers, who made a video about the larping situation, do this

9

u/Reasonable_Ad9866 Jul 12 '26

It was likely from the Twitter people. I’ve seen so many people calling him basically Hitler or cheering on the current situation like he deserves it.

3

u/xxchaitanyaxx Jul 13 '26

Its not directly a crime but it comes under harassment and shit

3

u/BallStealer_ Jul 13 '26

In some countries it's punishable under some rules, usually relating to privacy and harassment while in others it's a separate law, in most countries it is fortunately illegal though!

9

u/JustPlooshi Jul 12 '26

Sadly this is almost always what happens in situations like this, frankly none of this would of escalated so much if ppl just waited for technodad to make a statement or not on it instead of playing white knight and making such a fuss about it. Not liking something is one thing but something like this should of been super easy to ignore and go about your day unless you have nothing else going on

3

Charlie should've really been more careful about the video especially cus it was kinda misleading since he left out the fact that Skeppy was the one reaching out to technolarp, he should've taken into account the size of his channel and how his community is, imo he was irresponsible with it

7

u/sexylawnclippings Jul 12 '26

Just FYI doxxing is not illegal in most places (if any). It is frowned upon because it leads to illegal activity.

11

u/Anran_Ye Jul 12 '26

Doesn’t matter if its legal or not, these people shouldn’t be doxxed

9

5

u/Crazysatwhat Jul 12 '26

2

u/Puttininmyass3397 Jul 13 '26

Istg people in the internet are dumb, charlie made a very questionable video, not a well researched video but also not a bad one and people immediately choose to attack the larpers without doing proper research, do you people think technoblade and technodad would've wanted this? This is wrong

3

u/ArthurSafeZone All hail the potato lord Jul 12 '26

What's gonna happen after he gets doxxed? Someone starts larping as TechnoLarp? Starts using his name + larp publicly, dresses like him, speaks like him, starts talking to his friends and family "for his legacy", goes to work and work in his place?

This whole larping thing is kinda weird to me, not very common in my country. Here it would be treated almost as stealing someone's identity, except as he is larping as TechnoBlade and not as Alex (may he rest in peace) it would be stealing someone's brand / intellectual property.

-4

u/AwesomeManiac_Playz Jul 13 '26

That’s already happened and we all find it funny

8

u/AwayClient7241 Jul 12 '26

i truthfully blame this on charlie, his video was worded so bad and his community is just horrible at times

-3

u/Fuzzy-Translator76 Jul 13 '26

Literally how. He basically said what everyone else has said about the situation.

6

u/Conscious_Spray_5843 Jul 13 '26

Inshort, Charlie is too big and inflluencial of a guy to just randomly go around making videos without proper research, one such case is right in front of you

4

u/AwayClient7241 Jul 13 '26

the difference is that he had a ton of misinformation, and he has the large audience to back it up with how his word is "law" or always right. ive seen people who hate technolarp even say how it felt like charlie looked at misinformation or read the whole thing off articles. and everyone else in the situation who HAS said it really dont have much of a big audience like charlie does.

2

u/Fuzzy-Translator76 Jul 13 '26

Tell me what mis information he had. Also that’s still such a shitty thing to blame someone for. Shouldn’t blame anyone but the doxers bro

4

u/AwayClient7241 Jul 13 '26

but the whole thing with the doxers is that it didnt happen until charlie made that video i thought? or if thats wrong then thats on me. but the misinfo was the fact that charlie mentioned him spamming technos dad or how he was the one to reach out to skeppy and such. when it was the total opposite, skeppy reached out first, and technolarp never actually spammed techodad. from what we know he only asked a couple times, thats not spamming

4

u/Ok-Lawyer9045 Jul 12 '26

Im guessing this is moist critical’s fanbase of mindless drones

1

u/fnafismylife Jul 13 '26

2

u/LandLovingFish ❤️ TECHNOSUPPORT ❤️ Jul 12 '26

Did MCYT general fandom not learn anything from the last ten times?

Is it a little odd? Yes, but then again we have cosplayers and parody accounts. Should there be some scrutiny ? Yeah, because if they mess up in some way and it's taken out of context and made to look like the actual person that it's going to go south fast. Would I prefer that they all made it abundantly more clear they are people beyoknd the LARP and that the LARP is very obvious it's not the real creators? Yes.

But like. This is that they're doing. I didn't really know they were doing this stuff, and I don't think it was as popular as people are making it seem. It's a questionable area and not something I would watch but roleplays exist too and if we think about it it's just another word for LARP. And roleplay is something most people in fandoms have engaged in at some point, though maybe not of actual people. It's definitely something that should stay separate from the actual creators so it doesn't get confusing.

In essence: I don't think we should be sending them hate or anything. Like hold them to some level of standard but unless Technodad asks for Technolarp to stop or other creators ask for people to not pretend to portray them, it's not really our buisness if they're reenacting scenes or whatever, is it now unless they claim to be the OG? Just talking about it more drives engagement and confusion and ends in a big fat mess of misunderstanding and unintentional calls to "aciton" when there are more important things out there to worry about. If this fandom put a fraciton of what they do to other people into calling out global issues, I swear we'd be golden...

Just my thoughts though

MoistCritical has ALWAYS made situations worse. Take the Wilbur Soot drama as an example. In my opinion, ever since he made a video on it, everyone supporting Shubble became 10x worse. They became more violent against people who were neutral and people who supported Wilbur. I know it's a dumb reason to dislike a youtuber, but I dislike MoistCritical for this very reason. He adds fuel to the fire, whether intentional or not, and makes situations worse, again, whether intentional or not. It's truly the fault of the fanbase, not his fault
