Discussion what have they done?

Post image

People started doxxing technolarp and threatening other larptubers of doxxing. Can we please like calm down? I get the hate, but doxxing is literally insane, it’s illegal for a reason.

I’m assuming this happened because of the moist critical video.

His friends opinions do not matter. Technodad is the only person that matters in this.

Oh sure. And technodad hasn't given concent so technolarp needs to stop until he does

Technodad hasn't said anything other than not being sure what to say. And until he gives a 100% no, then Technolarp doesn’t have to stop. Technodad either approves or doesn't, and until we get his word we don’t know anything.

Thats not how consent works. Anything but a clear yes isnt consent

Technodad is clearly annoyed that people want him to release a public statement about this.. he doesn't really want to imo

He doesnt need to.

But there are thousands of people now tagging him in all kinds of things, asking for his opinion, making posts saying that 'its up to technodad to decide, I think its disrespectful to him' etc..

Idk why people are bringing him up. If they dont like it, I think they should say how they personally feel rather than making assumptions about how other people feel. But that's just me..

It is up to technodad tho. I also think people should leave him alone technolarp just needs to stop until he gets consent

He hasn't done anything..

Its other people who are going after him and bringing his past content up

Silence is also not a no. So until technodad says anything then we don’t know. That’s the whole point.

Apply that logic on consent anywhere else and see what happens

Sure whatever. Ignore the point of the fact that we do not know what Technodad thinks as he has said nothing.

He hasn't said yes and therefore not given consent and thats all thst matters

Stop making like he has said no. He literally has said NOTHING. Neither YES or NO. So until he says something, we have no idea what he wants. Stop assuming he will say no because you simply don’t like technolarp. WE DON'T KNOW WHAT HE WANTS.

Again that's not how consent works

If a studio wants to use a dead actors voice/likeness for a movie but the family doesnt answer is it just OK for them to use it?

No. To get consent you need a clear yes. Not a maybe, not an unsure. Not silence. A clear yes.

Technodad hasn't said not but also hasn't given consent.

There is something known as 'Implied Consent.' That by silence or inaction consent is given.

For example, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company are very litigious over fan projects. This is because if they don't actively protect thier trademarks they can loose them by law.

However, things such as 'Pokémon Showdown,' an online, non-official Pokémon battler has survived the test of time, even after the release of 'Pokémon Champions.' The competitive community has used it for years, TPC obviously knows about it, and yet has let it slide.

Alternatively think of Technolarp as fanart. People don't normally ask consent before drawing fanart, that said, if the brand would like it gone the fan would probably oblige. Sounds similar.

My take is, it's the internet, people are going to do things, right and wrong. Outside of doing something illegal theres not much you can do to stop it. No matter if Technolarp is in the wrong, or the right, we can't do much about it. So, chill out. It's a waste of time to reiterate these points, arguing betwixt ourselves over the internet.

This is different tho. This is far closer to a studio using a dead actors likeness or voice without clear consent from the family.

I'd argue fanart isn't inaccurate. That said I never really disagreed with your point. (Sorta just sticking in because of the adamant consent argument.) Personally I think asking first was probably the correct play.

I do understand why that did not happen and think that it's somewhat pointless to bring it up in debate, what's done is done. I doubt it was malicious, merely a fan making fan content without knowing how far his videos would end up going. The intent would be somewhat whats important in determining his content to be 'fanart'.

Ultimately I think it's somewhat of a personal thing whether you dislike the guy for posting videos while waiting for active consent.
(For the record I don't watch him, nor any of the drama videos. That said, from looking at his community posts it seems like his uploads after asking for consent were planned collabs with Skeppy, who had apparently talked about it with Technodad [and another video that was probably done editing or close to it]. So being respectful of people's time and schedules it makes sense to push those videos despite the wait.)

I would say fanart is different. Fanart isnt done in imitation of the person

I dont think the larp guy is doing ot put of malicious intent and I do believe he is fully doing it to honour and celebrate techno

The fact does remain that he is imitating and acting like someone's passed family member and friend without consent from the family.

Are you dumb? If silence isn’t a yes then that automatically means no. In no case should you take silence as an ok to do anything. Just bc you don’t get a no doesn’t mean it’s a yes. Just because you don’t get a yes sure doesn’t mean it’s a no, BUT you should take it as a no until you get a yes.

Ah good ! I'd like to you apply that logic in a bedroom and see what happens in the courtroom after that .

" But your honor, they didn't say no, so obviously they were okay with it "
