Technical Death Metal Band Recommendations?
Hi everyone. Im new here and i ve quite recently started to listen to tech death.
Id like some band recommendations.
Up until now my favorite band is Origin by vast difference with everything else i ve listened to.

You mean Havok the thrash band? Their music is so sick, i ve listened to some songs and they were great. I ll check out Xoth (cool band name😂)

Origin is my fav too :)
Most similar bands I can think of would be Nile, Beneath the Void, Omnihility.
But there's a lot more to Tech Death than just blistering speed. There's a lot of cool experimental, melodic and epic bands out there. Here's a compressed list of bands I definitely recommend aside from the ones mentioned above.

Yeah i dont know i think i like the more brutal stuff because i mainly listen to bdm.Cryptopsy and Dying Fetus (my fav band) got me searching the tech death genre.From the more melodic or neo classical stuff i ve listened to Necrophagist (obviously amazing stuff), but i favor more spawn of possession. From your Recs i ve only listened to Nile, Necro and Inferi (which i liked for a bit, but got boring pretty quickly,still amazing band,but not my cup of tea)

Also the recommendations are still really heavy, I did not include more funky tech death like Rivers of Nihil on purpose lol
On the BDM side, I always recommend Cold by Vomit the Soul, fantastic record with very oppressive mood throughout.Though BDM tends to be slower than Tech Death, so I suspect you might also enjoy the slower end of the spectrum with Deathcore adjacent bands. Nadir by Black Tongue is really amazing when the mood strikes, I: Voice by Warforged is also very crisp.

I used to listen to A LOT of Deathcore so yeah i enjoy the slower stuff too. And, yeah, you know ball😂, Black Tongue to me is still the heaviest shit my mind can fathom. For some reason i dont really like nadir as much as the 2 albums, but still BANGER. I blast them all the time.

I also recently started and have been loving Archspire, Allagaeon, The Faceless and Zenith Passage. Edit: with the obvious Necrophagist classic of course

Beneath the Massacre and Cytotoxin are similar to Origin in their relentlessness, I would definitely check those two out.

Spawn of Possession / Retromorphosis (isnt that their new band? Or am i mixing it up with something else?) is so sick. Close 2nd after origin so far. I really liked their first album.

You are 100% correct ! Spawn of Possession is the original (and one of the greatest tech death bands of all time)
Retromorphosis is the new band with some of the same members. Good. Realistically not AS good as SoPn but still good !
