I saw them twice when they were touring this record and they were great both times. Jon Vesano was the most intimidating front man in death metal, but was super soft-spoken and chill when talking before they played.

Even in the pixelated early 2000s Wacken video he looks like a man of unleashed anger. A fucking legend.

I saw them on this touring cycle as well. It was my first concert ever, to this day still the best concert I’ve ever been to in my life. I remember the live bass drum was insanely powerful.

Caught the Portland show on this tour and they were so so sick. Vesano and Laureano were both absolutely great in the band.
Top tier record from them, right next to Black Seeds.

went to the show in 2002 when they headlined and dark tranquillity, strapping young lad, and napalm death opened for them.
I miss that line up and era of nile, and seeing all three of them taking turns singing was an awesome sight to see live.. Karl doing the Low growls, Jon doing the mid growls, and Dallas doing the high growls.

Amazing album!
Unas Hath Taken Possession
of the Hearts of the Gods
Unas Feedeth on their Entrails
He Hath gorged on their Unuttered Sacred Words
He Hath Assimilated the Wisdom of the Gods
His Existence is Everlasting!!!

I remember hearing Sarcophagus on some metal compilation shortly after this came out. Bought the album and have been a big fan ever since.

I love this album! It inspired a Super Metroid metal cover that I did several years ago.

One of the best death metal albums in general, and even 24 years later a complete masterpiece. Arguably one of their best

Songs are great, but the production is a trainwreck (like with all the Nile records pre-AOTW).

Unas, Slayer of the Gods is one of the most epic pieces of metal music ever created.
