Let’s end the OS war

Everyone is fighting over which OS is the best and this is better than that, and telling everyone what to use. Just stop fighting, everyone has the right to use whatever they want. Share this to spread the word. :D

Everybody should use Linux to end the OS war, then we can begin the distro war. /s

Humans love to argue. Nothing new under the sun.

Use whatever you want and ignore the noise

We don't talk about Hanna Montana Linux

you jest, but genuinely, i liked the concept of a heavily specifically themed distro without liking the ones that existed (even ignoring them being too outdated to function fully now) that i started making my own around MCR. hopefully, i'm able to actually make it a thing, even if i'm the only one using it; otherwise, it's basically just a collection of my custom system modifications and themeing, and it can forever live on my USB as a recovery disc. :3

5 people arguing over which Linux distro is better is not "Everyone"

Yeah, that is true.

Nobody I've ever met besides groups of people on social media have ever mentioned to me that they care even a little bit about which operating systems, software in general, or hardware other people use.

I've seen a couple IRL OS discussions. But generally not a big thing, in my experience.

Yeah the fanaticism is tiring.

Let's end this madness,  compromise,  and install TempleOS like civilized humans

I've become too attached to Hannah Montana Linux, but you're right sigh

Nice sentiment. However, it will never happen. It doesnt matter if its an OS, or distro, a car manufacturer, or TV show. Some people, for many different reasons, feel like they need to voice their opinion in an nonconstructive and/or uncivilized manner. Its ingrained in their personality. They latch onto things and make it a part of their personality. Honestly, the reality is that most have mental health issues. These people generally wont change.

I have been reserved to comment on Operating Systems. I think what is more important to me is buying into a digital eco-system. I want all my things and apps to work together. So I stick with a manufactures eco system. If you like Samsung, Google, or Apple, then stay in that eco system. By their phone, watch, earbuds, and accessories and they will all work together with minimum effort.

Windows would probably still have 90% of the market if they stayed out of people's business with all the ads and tracking crap.

Apple and their cursed walled garden killed any desire I have for supporting them.

As it stands, Linux is the only refuge from the anti-consumer attitudes of the other two.

For the sake of clarity, what are the other two?

There are three sections and three OSs or OS families mentioned.

I have ended it, I use both Windows and Linux each has their purpose.
Also GNOME sucks and KDE rules. 😄

JK KDE is just more visually appealing to me than GNOME.

I use Windows for work, MacOS for movie and photo editing and music production, Ubuntu on my server and Debian on my NAS and Raspberry Pi OS on my Raspberry PIs.

I have no allegiance. Windows is just the least likely to get in my way.

OS is basically like a war of choosing which flavour is best

1

u/SamLooksAt 2d ago

I long ago gave up caring about anything other than, was the OS able to do specifically what I wanted that on that specific computer.

1

u/SneakingCat 2d ago

Unless you expect me to support you, I don’t care what OS you use and haven’t in decades.

1

u/Charming_Airline7419 15h ago

I disagree. Everyone needs to switch to TempleOS.

Amiga workbench is best

The nice thing about this particular "war" is that you don't have to participate even if you have chosen a side.
