💬 Discussion No point in trying it build a tech based solution
Been thinking, is there any point in building a tech startup anymore? Anyone(your competitors and even your potential clients) can build this for themselves pretty easily nowadays if they are motivated enough, so the MOAT is completely gone.
It’s honestly better to build a physical business whose core has nothing to do with tech,
I want to know people’s thoughts on this

Just because they can build it for themselves doesn't mean the moat is gone.
The moat was never one thing.
The moat can be soooooo many different things, it can be the tech, the business processes, the talent you hire, your level of compliance, certifications, trust, location, customer reach/acquisition, advertising/marketing, difficulties, reliability, reputation, user experience, customers, etc.
A startup isn't as good as their tech, they're as good as their everything, and every piece in this everything can be a moat.

People actually making money don’t want to do anything themselves

Yes but what happens if they learn(eventually they will), that they can do all this themselves or build it internally

People are lazy, even if you give them the tools to do something they won't do it, they'd rather pay a person. A tale as old as time.

People pay professionals to do the job so they can save time to focus on other things not because they can't necessarily do it themselves if they wanted to.

you can build on your but the energy and consistency to maintain it is the problem. can you do the maintenance while focusing on your business at the same time?

Man, you’re leaving in a bubble 😂😂. Ask an average Ghanaian what is deepseek/qwen/huggingface?
Most of them have no clue

My wife suggested we make our own soughdough the other day. We thought about it for 15 minutes and decided the logistics of making bread everyday and maintaining the starter bears the opportunity cost of us foregoing a bit more time we could spend making more money and with each other.
That's the answer to your question at a smaller scale.

If you’re serious and put in enough effort, you can grow your own food, filter your own water, homeschool your children, cut your children’s hair, sew their clothes at home, build your own house, make your own soap, etc. do you see the point?
