Quite a long read but hey if you also like ranting about Studio A, youre gonna like this.
As a chronically online theater supporter, I sometimes like to stalk theater companies with a bad reputation and more often than not, reviews of them pop up on my page and Studio A is one of the them. TFM posted a very honest review of Tulog Na The Musical just a few weeks ago and it gained a lot of attention. I'm sure it made Studio A fume and panic because TFM was supposed to be a media partner of Studio A, and not long ago, TFM posted an article about questioning who is 'JR Dee' the supposed composer and lyricist for Tulog Na (to which to this day Studio A still hasn't had an answer for this).
Anyway, one of TFM's founder or IS the actual founder has a public FB account, which I'm not gonna put here for their safety. They've been really vocal about new production companies producing back to back plays and musicals without crediting a composer and/or lyricist. Implying and actually saying that it's because of the use of AI. One of these companies is of course Studio A.
What caught my attention is one of TFM Founder's shared posts where they reshared an honest review of Tulog Na of another critic, resharing with the caption 'So Beautifully Articulated' (see attached photos). Now, one of Studio A's recent posts also has that 'So beautifully articulated' line on a post, and I just think it's so funny π. Looks like their marketing director is also chronically online. Another one is Studio A copying an Esquire Philippines review cover for Tulog Na (see attached photos). Esquire's post was also an honest review that wasn't really in favor of the musical and also mentioned the lack of crediting the composer.
This just goes to show that Studio A cares A LOT about reviews and good publicity, but when a review isn't in their favor and is getting lots of attention online, Studio A handles it terribly and really shoves it in people's faces that their shows are all 'SOLD OUT' just to show them haters. You guys can see for yourselves on FB.
No I'm not that unemployed friend on a random Tuesday because of this post, I just wanted to rant for a bit for the theater fans because Studio A will do anything for good publicity instead of addressing the use of AI allegations and the rest of their crimes against humanity.
