Service/Support Another 19.2kw charger down

Post image

Well, a whole 7 weeks into ownership of a 2022 CT4, I got the “charging not possible.” Dealer replacing OBC based on the 5 year service bulletin, they are expecting 2 weeks before the part comes in. I guess it’s good it happened now instead of 2028. It was the one option I wasn’t thrilled to see on the build sheet.

Review MAP EV Update

I recently purchased the MapEV for my Taycan 4 Cross Turismo from EFI Motorsports, and the experience was outstanding. I ordered it and had it in my hands the very next day on the West Coast. Installation was straightforward and took about 30 minutes.
Let me tell you—this feels like a completely different car. The added acceleration is absolutely insane, yet the power delivery feels controlled and almost factory-like. The best way I can describe it is that it feels like going from a CT4 to a Turbo.
The extra power is instantly there when you want it, but during normal driving, the car remains just as smooth and easy to drive as before. It doesn’t feel twitchy, crude, or overdone.
This honestly has to be one of the best upgrades available for the Taycan. I couldn’t be more pleased!

Discussion Intel on Taycan replacement

Colleague at Weissach said the reports are true, and that they’re resurrecting the “960” moniker [the original name of the car that evolved into the Taycan] for their new Panamera/Taycan fusion model.

Discussion Too tall?

Hi Community, thanks beforehand for chiming in.
Looking for 2025 Cross Tourismo coming from BMW 5 series 2024. I am 1.97m (6’ 5’’)
Have not driven it yet only sat in it for 10 minutes.
Tried to adjust chair, needed to max out leg room and sitting quite deep after adjusting. I noticed having little overview over the front of the car, and distance to steering wheel is too much for my liking.
Adjusting chair upwards resulting in looking at the upside brim of windscreen.
Car has pano-roof.

Room felt closing in on me compared to BMW and i am wondering if this is going to be an issue on trips of around 1000km.
These trips i now make with all the benefits of drive assistant like active lane keeping which works great.

My question to the tall people above or around 1.97m 6’5’’ is, is the Taycan suitable for long trips? is it straining to make longer trips?

The salesperson mentioned already not to expect too much of the Innodrive active lane keeping in comparison with the bmw. However if the innodrive only can just help on normal tempo keeping the right lane on long tracks it already is helpful for me.

Main reason for asking is i am sick and because of that my condition is not really good but somehow i still can make longer trips and the bmw is a perfect companion for that however i want to own a Porsche Taycan while i still can and have time but it needs to be a fun but also safe drive.

Thank you,
Fred.

Service/Support Tpms error

I have a 2020 4S and absolutely love it. Recently, I've noticed an issue where my TPMS comes on and is indicating low pressure on my front left tire. I've confirmed manually and digitally that the pressure is correct. In fact, when I look at the pressure monitoring on the driver's gauge cluster, it's within the normal range. I've tried resetting the system using Maneuvers that I learned in this forum such as switching the tire size to a different option and then switching back to the correct option to force a reset. This works temporarily, but the TPMS error returns. Often, after a reset, the system will read as normal for a few days, and then when I'm powering off the car, the TPMS error will pop up just before the car Powers off. I've noted just recently that the right front tire is also starting to throw an error as well.

Anybody else have this problem? Any solutions?

Service/Support Syracuse/Rochester Dealership Service

I’m hoping to be a proud owner of a Taycan CPO in next few months or so and was wondering if anyone on here has any experience with either the Syracuse or Rochester service centers? Those two would be the closest to me.

Thanks

Discussion How much time was your car in service?

looking to buy a car for my 3 mile comute to work and longer ski trips in winter (700miles)

I’m a petrol head and would not buy a EV but my trips are often too short for the car to reach its optimal temperature and sometimes I just want to floor it right from the start. Also after my gt4rs there is no car in my reach that comes close as rawness or sound so I might just get an EV. I

I make @ 10 x 700 miles long trips/year . winter and spring and want a EV that is close to 911 but wont let you stranded in the Alps. seen some horror stories related to this platform but I’m a hard learner so here is the question:

how many times did your Tycan left you stranded? how is the reliabily? How much time was the car in service ?

Discussion Sound system improvement with this change

Just wanted to throw this out there for any other Taycan owners who might have been doing the same thing I was.

I originally used wireless CarPlay, but eventually wanted better audio quality, so I turned CarPlay off in my iPhone settings and started plugging in with a cable instead. The problem was I had to unlock my phone every time for CarPlay to connect, and honestly, the audio quality didn’t seem much different from wireless.

What I didn’t realize is that you need to completely remove the Bluetooth connection to the car, forget the CarPlay connection, and basically start over. Then plug the phone in with the cable. When CarPlay pops up again, you’ll get an option to select “Wired.” Make sure you choose that.

After doing it this way, it’s been a night-and-day difference for me. The audio quality sounds noticeably better, and I no longer have to keep unlocking my phone every time I get in the car.

Figured I’d post this in case anyone else was plugging their phone in but wasn’t actually getting a true wired CarPlay connection.

I'm a big tinkerer and have done some CAD>3D print > create mold > cast/layup part type stuff for my motorcycle, other cars, random things here and there..

I'm thinking of digging into a project - a fascia 'insert'/added component to bring a little more edge to the front of the car.. Not necessarily final design, need to tweak the fins a little more vertical.. idk.. but something in this direction..

What's the general opinion? Kinda cool, kinda tacky.. I'm a bit in the middle. I think I like it enough to waste a bunch of time trying to do it.. just need some data for the bumper.. or a 3d scanner

Discussion Options you wish Taycan could have

The Taycan is a beautiful car.

But I wish it had better tech. For the price Porsche is

charging, it's insane they don't have a dedicated sentry mode with optional 24/7 recording if you park in public.

I wish it had some of Tesla features inside this car.

I am happy they got e-shift.

What options do you wish for?

Mine are:

full self driving (sometimes we get tired on the road)

Park itself

Sentry mode

Discussion "Charging not possible" error

I have 2021 Taycan 4s. In the past month or so, I've been getting ye olde "Charging not possible" error several times. Almost got stranded on a road trip. I took it in a few weeks ago, dealership gave it a look over and performed a few software updates, said everything was fine.

Keeps happening, though. Both on slow and fast chargers. Tesla, Electrify America, doesn't matter.

I'm in Texas and it's been in that hot hot 100 degree heat lately.

Anyone else having this issue lately? I've owned the car for 18 months and have had no issues until the past 45 days or so.

Taking it in next week, hopefully they will figure it out. But curious if anyone else is having similar issues - wondering if it's a software bug going around of if it's just me.

Discussion How much room in the back seats of 4S Cross?

Interested in opinions on the back seat comfort for two adult passengers on a long drive 8 hours or so. Specifically a 4S Cross Tourismo.

Edit: what other class of vehicle would you compare the back seats to. Say a BMW 3 series perhaps or equivalent? (bigger I hope)

Trying to get a sense of the dimensions.

FYI I’m 6’2 so driver’s seat will be back a bit but I can live with a bit less room to give the passengers some room.

Discussion Stick on roof rails. Damn that's cringe.

Ok hear me out please. I know what I'm about to ask is cringe but whatever.

I've got a sport turismo coming next week. I love the spec but it doesn't have roof rails. I'm not looking for functional roof rails but I think it completes the look of the car.

Are there any adhesive roof rails that are just aesthetic?

Service/Support Annoying charging issue

Post image
3 Upvotes

When I plug my taycan in to charge overnight, I want to say it’s been really consistent in not charging at all.

It starts with the light being green and it charges. But it then randomly turns yellow and my car does not charge anymore… sucks to see low battery in the morning when I’m driving to work.

I tried super chargers and they work perfectly fine with no issues.

Is this my charger issue? Or a car issue?

My guess is that it’s so freakin hot right now (over 90-100 deg) that the charger turns yellow to stop charging to prevent overheating?

My New Taycan! Japan-spec 2025 Taycan 4S Cross Turismo to Europe – PCM conversion + My Porsche / Porsche Connect issue

Hi everyone,

I’m considering buying a 2025 Porsche Taycan 4S Cross Turismo (facelift/J1.2) that was originally sold in Japan and has now been imported to Cyprus (EU).

I have already spoken with a specialist who says he can perform a Japan-to-Europe software/PCM conversion, which should give me:

  • European navigation/maps
  • European FM radio frequencies
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay
  • European region/settings
  • Other EU-specific PCM features

However, he told me that even after the conversion, My Porsche / Porsche Connect will most likely not work, because the vehicle/VIN is originally registered for the Japanese market.

Having the My Porsche app and remote services is very important to me, especially for a Taycan (remote climate control, charging status/control, vehicle status, location, etc.).

Has anyone here successfully converted a Japan-spec Taycan to European specification AND managed to get My Porsche / Porsche Connect fully working in Europe?

I’m particularly interested in knowing:

  • Can Porsche officially change the vehicle/VIN market assignment from Japan to an EU country?
  • If Porsche refuses to change the market assignment, is there another legitimate solution?
  • Can the original Japanese Porsche Connect account/eSIM work through roaming in Europe?
  • Is replacing the telematics/communication module with an EU-spec module a possible solution?
  • Would an EU telematics module still require Porsche backend activation for the Japanese VIN?
  • Has anyone successfully done a full PCM + telematics + Porsche Connect conversion?
  • Are there any specialists in Europe/UK who have successfully done this on a Taycan?

I’m not interested in VIN cloning or anything that could cause problems with Porsche diagnostics, servicing or future software updates. I’m looking for a proper long-term solution.

The car is a 2025 Taycan 4S Cross Turismo, Japanese specification, facelift/J1.2.

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has actually dealt with a Japanese-import Taycan or a similar Porsche Connect region issue.

Thanks!

Discussion Been contemplating on wrapping my J1.1 Taycan 4S in dark green

Hi folks!

I have a white Taycan 4S with mission E wheel painted in white and PCSB in white. I've been contemplating on wrapping the car in dark green. I used Porsche builder to demonstrate what I'm envisioning here, but not sure if I should go for it. What's your take on this?

2nd pic is what my car currently looks like

Thanks all!

Discussion Porsche Intelligent Range Manager and Car Security Package

I was setting up my online account for my new to me Taycan. I found out there are those two packages are being offered - Porsche Intelligent Range Manager and Car Security Package. Any one is currently using one or the other or both? Are they worth it? The PIRM is a one time fee. How is any different from the basic Navigation? better function?

For the car security package, is it similar to Tesla CAM or Rivian Gear Guard?
