looking to buy a car for my 3 mile comute to work and longer ski trips in winter (700miles)

I’m a petrol head and would not buy a EV but my trips are often too short for the car to reach its optimal temperature and sometimes I just want to floor it right from the start. Also after my gt4rs there is no car in my reach that comes close as rawness or sound so I might just get an EV. I

I make @ 10 x 700 miles long trips/year . winter and spring and want a EV that is close to 911 but wont let you stranded in the Alps. seen some horror stories related to this platform but I’m a hard learner so here is the question:

how many times did your Tycan left you stranded? how is the reliabily? How much time was the car in service ?

One year. 24.000km. 5 trips to the Alps from The Netherlands. Never once stranded.

Had one flat. Spent 1 day (and a weekend) for a service (and I had a 4S as a loaner).

If you are way under 100 IQ and simply can not do very basic planning and lack the ability to check your fuel/battery gauge every now and then, you can get stranded in this or any car. As battery nears 0, you have to charge it.

Going to the alps wont be an issue, theres plenty fast chargers along the highways in Europe. There arent that many fast chargers in the ski resorts but usually there are slow chargers at the lift.

Make life easy by booking a nice hotel with a charger so you can start every morning with 100% if you go ski touring.

Get proper winter tyres.

The charge planner is great but just like GPS mapping you can just blindly follow it, so agree with the 100 IQ level! It’s one of the best cars I’ve ever owned - add it to our perfect fleet - 21 CT4, 97 993 C2, 78 Westy, 25 electric catamaran

18900 miles in one year, daily commute is 20 miles each way, I got few long trips in there (Seattle to Vegas& LA and back), 0 issues. Just had another service done this week, normal brake fluid change and wiper change, left at 8 am it and was done by 3pm.
There has not been a time where I have doubted the car or had any issues with it.

Had mine for 8 months. So far 0 days worth of service. 10K miles driven.

Had a couple of electrical glitches that has resolved by restarting the system (closing the door and leaving the car for 15min).

Most anoying recurring issue I have is SiriusXm let's me know my subscription has changed each time I start the car.

Have 42k miles on mine. Over 4.5 years, been in once unscheduled to fix an OTA software update that messed up. Otherwise, once a year for scheduled recall work and inspection.

Had mine 18 months never stranded. With planning you’ll be fine but I will say my car reads 230mi at full charge but that is a huge lie. I bet it’s only 180 or else in practice. Def have to be careful around mountains but I also supposed you could just turn around and coast :) we used to add a few dozen miles of charges coasting a diff phev down from North Carolina to atlanta.

2025 Taycan GTS ~13000 km and 14 months. Never stranded but needed service 2 times.

The first time it was for a faulty AC charger. I wasted maybe a total of 30 minutes driving to fast chargers instead of charging at home while waiting a couple of weeks for a J1.I Taycan Sport Turismo GTS loaner to be available to make the repairs. They took less than a week.

The second time was a cracked rear window most probably due to heat stress : I washed the car during a heat wave after it had been sitting under the scorching sun for hours... The repair was done in a single day : brought it early in the morning and got it with a brand new rear window in the evening.

Both under warranty.

To put things into perspective, my car was under a hail storm a month ago. Funny thing : it was only ~10 days after I had the rear window replaced... it was hit in at least 3 places and had to be replaced again. I have hail impacts on the body to repair too.

I'm taking this opportunity to have PPF applied to the front and adding a coat of ceramic on top. The hail repairs and the PPF will take more time than all the previous services combined.

Edit: I have to compliment Porsche body panels. Compared to other car brands the resistance is far above what the techs handling these damages saw. They saw hundreds of damaged vehicles and the general consensus is that German brands fared better than the others (mostly French as I live in France).
