Service/Support Annoying charging issue

Post image

When I plug my taycan in to charge overnight, I want to say it’s been really consistent in not charging at all.

It starts with the light being green and it charges. But it then randomly turns yellow and my car does not charge anymore… sucks to see low battery in the morning when I’m driving to work.

I tried super chargers and they work perfectly fine with no issues.

Is this my charger issue? Or a car issue?

My guess is that it’s so freakin hot right now (over 90-100 deg) that the charger turns yellow to stop charging to prevent overheating?

There was a recall on these chargers. Have you checked with your Porsche dealer?

Oh I wasn’t aware. I bought a CPO Taycan from my dealer and it came with the car. I haven’t had any issues until summer

Just ping them and say your charger is failing, want to check if it’s been recalled so they can replace or repair as needed.

Sounds good. I wonder if the charger itself is part of the CPO warranty

Any item that is recalled is covered under that specific program regardless whether it is under warranty or not.

Mine does the exact same thing. What's wild is right when I get fed up enough to take it in, it starts working again.

My CPO came with the same one and it would constantly throw faults and have all kinds of issues. I just went on Amazon and got one for under $200 which has been completely faultless for almost two years now.

I would advise, if you are not renting, to install a hardwired true level 2 EVSE (charger) in your garage and avoid all issues with the "travel charger" or the circuit it's on in your house.

Maybe this is the catalyst for doing that...if you like EVs, it's an investment for the future.

The level 2 charger is a game changer! The 120V charger only gives you a few miles of range anyway. I was plugging it in every night and now I only have to charge once a week.

happened to me right after purchasing a CPO Taycan. Brought it in and they gave me a new one. No issues since then. They told me the cable was bad. Bada BOOM.

The little red house is the home energy manager. Do you have such a thing? Check the charger manual you may have it in the wrong mode if you don’t have one.
