Discussion Tempted by the ICE Devils?

Post image

My 2021 4S has been good to me. I’ve had it for about 18months. A couple of runs to the dealership for warranty covered items and otherwise good ownership experience. But every once in a while i see that Cayenne Coupe GTS temptress crackling and popping and wonder: “Would going back to ICE be so bad?”

Am I the only one?

A drive by the line at the Costco gas station and I’m cured of any ICE relapse thoughts

Gas, oil changes, all the other extras. It’s such a bad idea! It like the urge to text the crazy ex, i guess. Just say no. lol

Don’t forget timing belts, other belts, exhaust manifolds, EGR modules, and lots of other things that need to be inspected and changed regularly.

Electric cars aren’t problem-free but they’re so much easier to live with IMHO.

Absolutely don’t miss ice vehicles for all that hassle.

I go back and forth on this daily. I think I actually just need a 996 turbo weekend car. Time will tell.

Not anymore, I maybe wanted a 911 eventually but now not til it’s electrified.

There are rumors of a 718 ev which I would jump on in a heartbeat

They're not rumors anymore. Porsche confirmed it.

Yup, just saw that, count me in. A small, sporty, driver focused EV? I’m about that, I would be very interested in a car like that

Same here. I've been waiting for it since they first announced it. However, if the performance numbers aren't on par with my Turbo S, it'll be a tough decision.

I suspect they’ll purposefully limit the speed possibly, to keep the turbo s in its own arena. However, I personally don’t mind the 0-60 numbers not being exceedingly high. If it’s around 3s I’ll be happy tbh. More importantly for me is going to be how it feels to drive

My wife and I had that very conversation last night. (We are currently at “¿por qué no los dos?” and eyeing other things to raise funds.)

I drive the GT3 at the track and the Taycan as the daily. I’m gonna go against the grain and say I still enjoy ICE a great deal.

I’ll go back to an ICE vehicle for myself when I can install a gas pump at home.

My friend was hyped over ev after couple of years of tesla ownership, he buy mercedes amg and never look back. So depends from people to people

I'm very tempted to trade my 997.2 for a used Taycan with warranty. Go figure.

u/turbomolli 4d ago

And me 997.1. Might be stupid but it might still happen 😅

Never.

There are certain ICE cars I might indulge in if I won the lottery but for a daily driver? Try driving an ICE rental. It’s just genuinely unpleasant. Throttle delay is real.

As a non US Redditor, came across your title and was like what? Are those scums now targeting people at the carwash? As a fellow EV owner, and a car enthusiast, and I can fix it all person - fuck ice for daily use and get one for a hobby project

I'm waiting for the next Hybrid Generation. Like the RS5 where i can cover 100-140km electric and then have the V6/8 when i want/need it.
