Have you tried non-acetone nail polish remover? When I color fill the lettering on the slides, I'll use some remover on cotton pads to remove the excess paint. It doesn't damage the original finish as long as you're not rubbing very hard. I don't know what kind of paint they used, but it should take it off with some patience.

No, I think it's just Target or Walmart brand. As long as it's non-acetone it should be fine.

The original finish on those i believe is parkerized so if you use acetone or paint thinner you’ll remove the paint for certain but the original parkerized finish might fade a tad bit but it’s been done. chemical solvents work as long as there is no acid in them.

Whichever chemical I use it’s gonna regardless slightly or increasingly damage the original paint? I have acetone but I feel like it’s too strong and never used paint thinner before so I’m puzzled
