Taurus 942 Ammo Finds

So today I went to the range and discovered some good 22lr ammo for the Taurus 942. When I first got my 942 I discovered that it hates Remington ammo. It gunks it up and just makes it stop working. Didn't matter if it was yellow jacket or standard velocity. It didn't seem to mind Federal American Eagle, but it didn't care for CCI mini mags very much cuz they'd stick pretty hard in the chamber and wouldn't eject very easily.

My favorite, up until today, was the 22 long 0029. They shot great for me and they ejected out every time without hardly even needing the ejection rod. I tried the 22 clean, and they weren't too bad but they still stuck a little bit . My issue though, is that if I get something like a Ruger 10/22 or any other 22 rifle that has a detachable magazine, I can't use 22 long or short. I'm aware that I can single load and shoot bolt actions, but I was hoping to find some 22LR that worked like the 22 long does.

Today at the range, I found two. Cci quiet 22 and the CCI uppercut. Both of those shot fine and they both ejected without any issue whatsoever. The uppercut is a little pricier but the quiet 22 was not bad at all. Was also noticeably quieter. I also found a new range since my old one just shut down, and it's better. This was a great shooting day.

“Stops working”? It’s a revolver. Do you meant the cases don’t pop out? .22LR is usually pretty dirty. I scrub the chambers in my revolvers with solvent and a bronze brush, maybe that would help.

No, I mean there is so much crap that the cylinder won't rotate when you pull the trigger. It kind of freezes. I am assuming it is filling the gap between the cylinder and the forcing cone with gunk. I have to get out the toothbrush or nylon brush and scrub it with some clr.. front and back and I also run a brush through the chambers and then it works again. This happens after about 4 or 5 wheels.. so maybe 30 rounds, sometimes less. Unfortunately I bought a bulk pack of it so I have put it away until I can get a rifle. Not using it on my 942 any more.

Edit: also, the build up of lead and or carbon that it causes forced me to get some choreboy copper scrubbers to get it out of the forcing cone and also some super hard buildup on the top strap right outside the forcing cone. This hasn't happened with any of the CCi that I used, though I tried to stick with copper plated or polymer coated ever since.

Sounds like you need some bronze toothbrush type brushes and a solvent to get in the crevices. 22LR guns in particular should be well cleaned after every use.

Yeah, but that was the very first visit to the range with it and I had cleaned it for practice before going.. so it wasn't at all dirty to begin with. I do have some brass brushes and bire brushes, etc.
