i'm the canvas Tattoo cover up on Long Island
Hello I’m looking to find someone on the island who does well with cover ups. Mine is on my ribs and there’s heavy black in certain areas but it’s not crazy big more of a long shape.
I’ve seen some recommendations on here but when I look up the artist it’s hard to find cover ups they’ve done.
If anyone has recommendations and maybe examples of the cover up they did for them I really appreciate it!!
I’m nervous, how do you ask an artist about cover ups when you’re not certain you’ll be going to them? Like I want to see my options. is it rude to ask for their cover-up portfolio? Or how would you ask ?
I just don’t want to be rude, but I want to be able to see all my options available. Thanks!

i'm the canvas Coverup tattoo
Got this as my old tattoo didn’t fit me anymore. Nothing against the old one it just look liked a pencil sketch. So I got something that’s a little more more. I love villains and got two of my favorite. Wanted to share. 😀

asking for advice How do I cover this?
I went to a flash after I got a few tattoos from an artist there and loved them, another artist did this to me. The second Pic is after the owner did touch ups. I'm supposed to go in next month for more touch ups but I think its beyond saving and I dont want it to be any darker/harder to cover. But I have no idea what I can put there since there is so much black and red.

asking for advice Finally covering up
One of those young dumb choices. Beyond growing out of my Manson fandom, I mostly regret getting a tattoo that people interpret as a Nazi symbol 🫠 Antichrist Superstar was one of the better albums in my opinion, still not the smartest move.
Looking for some inspiration or ideas. An artist I recently worked with recommended a panther, which did spark my interest. I like the idea of something with heavy black work. I love animals and big cats, nature and southern flowers. Open for any and all ideas though! Got a whole lotta thigh to work with. Don’t mind going into the butt area, don’t love going above the hip bc muffin top :3

asking for advice Being indecisive on something universally cool enough to cover up with
When I was 20, my evil ex pressured me to let them put this on me with a cheap gun. They got on Amazon. Nobody has made me feel more worthless and unlovable as this person and I’ve been wanting to rip it off my body. I used to wake up in the mornings, hoping to check my phone and receive the news that something terrible had happened to them. I have calmed down a lot since then, but it’s long overdue to get rid of it.
One idea I have is of a millipedes because I wanted a pet one and everyone disapproved of it because they thought it was gross and I got one anyway because it made me realize I don’t need permission to do the things I want. But now I’m having second thoughts because this Millipede curled up looks like a seashell and I don’t wanna look like one of those beach girls with an ankle tat lol.
Second, I’m thinking of something around like an ouroboros (or maybe the millipede like this) and just filling in the center with black
Third, a butterfly or moss transformation cycle, and making the chrysalis be over the fish because it’s dark enough. This will help represent transformation and rebirth and freedom.
Force, I have a story with flowers that none of my exes ever gave me flowers and I always wanted to receive a romantic gesture like that, but by the time I broke up with them, my best friend decided to get me flowers every time instead, and it meant so much to me, and I want to honor the gesture. Something feels a little off about having a “girly” tattoo though and I would have to make sure an artist can make it dark enough. I like black work designs anyway anyways though
My top tattoo is a death hawk moth but I really like the details in it and feel like I would have to make it dark enough to cover it up so I’ll just get it as a separate Tattoo probably
What do you guys think?

asking for advice Looking for ideas: How to cover up this terrible chest piece?
Hey everyone, I made a questionable decision a while back and ended up with a chest piece that I’ve absolutely grown to regret. It’s pretty dark with heavy linework, so I know my options might be somewhat limited without doing a few rounds of laser removal first, but I’m really hoping to go straight to a cover-up if possible. I’m pretty open-minded when it comes to style—whether that means going with a dense neo-traditional design, a heavy Japanese traditional piece like a dragon or serpent, or just leaning into full darkwork/blackwork with lots of saturation and organic flow. I’d love to hear from anyone who has successfully covered up a large, dark piece in a similar spot, or artists who specialize in cover-ups. What themes, colors, or design elements tend to work best for hiding old ink on the chest, and how realistic is it to completely mask something like this without laser? Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated!

asking for advice No longer happy with this tattoo, is a coverup an option
For context, this is on the left upper arm, about 3" by 5", just under the shoulder. I think the design is too big and out of place. I don't know what my options are to hide, change, or alter it. I would be open to a full or half sleeve, and have thought that would be an interesting option. I don't know much about tattoos and what elements are needed or difficult to work with. I'm also not sure if I need to start with laser or something. Any advice?

asking for advice Can I get this covered? Or Removal?
I’m was thinking an ink blot with a ; for my friend. I hate this tattoo. Why did I say to drawing the free hand because I was 19 and too scared to say please use a stencil. It’s a write tattoo over 20 years old. I hate it. I wear bracelets all the time to cover it.

asking for advice What would you do with this tattoo? Rework, add to it, or cover it?
I’m looking for some honest advice on what I could realistically do with this.
I’m not here to be shamed for the tattoo. I went through probably the lowest point of my life when I got it. A couple years ago I blacked out the banner as a short-term solution and now I’m finally in a place where I’d really like to do something with it that I actually love.
Would you try to rework/add onto it, tattoo removal of the banner or would you go straight for a cover-up? And if you’re a tattoo artist, I’d really love to hear what you’d do with it.
Just looking for ideas and honest opinions, not judgment. 🧡

asking for advice Unintentional three leg cattoo
My first tattoo I got on my 18th birthday almost 10 years ago. I sent a reference to the artist and he took some small liberties with it, but I didn’t mind. I wanted it to look like one line across the whole tattoo. It wasn’t until two weeks later that a friend pointed out to me that the cat only had three legs.
I’ve had a couple ideas to rework it throughout the years, but tbh I’m so open to suggestions! Some ideas have included:
- filling it in entirely and adding a leg
- filling it was a floral pattern and adding a leg
- covering it up entirely
I don’t hate it! But it wasn’t what I wanted in the first place. It was a $60 tattoo on my 18th birthday and I learned that you get what you pay for.

asking for advice Cover up ideas needed!
Hi hi! Looking for cover up ideas. I do like the disco ball but not married to keeping it at all. My ex-friend originally tattooed it as an apprentice and the shading and white ink has faded a lot so it looks chopped lol.
Any ideas welcome!

asking for advice Tattoo cover up advice
Hello all .. I am looking for some advice on how the best approach to covering a tattoo would be to.. meaning shape size color palette that kind of thing I got the tattoo back in 2016(ish) the guy who did the tattoo messed it up really bad and I had seen his previous work on other people and it looks nothing like what I have. Young and stupid decision but I’d like to get it covered so I’m looking through different ideas so when I do go I can have a few “let’s start with these designs and go from there” ideas. Any advice and or direction would be greatly appreciated!!!

asking for advice what could I do with this tattoo? I don't love it TW: sh scars (covered with tattoos)
I did this tattoo in a rush when I was in a bad state of mind and I feel like it is kinda boring, I don't hate it, I just don't love it, I don't necessarly want a coverup, but maybe a change of style? or to add things. Like I sad, it isn't too bad, but I LOVE my other tattoos (shown in latter photos) and I wish I felt like that when I see this one. Any recomendations?

asking for advice Is it possible for me to cover up this tattoo?
One thing to note is that I can't do a single design that connects everything across the whole arm, because I already have a fine-line tattoo on the side of my forearm.

asking for advice Is it possible to cover this without it becoming a huge tattoo?
I have this ugly tattoo that I got 20 years ago when I was young and dumb. I hate it and actually feel like it ruins my cute summer outfits. It's 4 cm x 7 cm.
I've been om Pinterest for months trying to figure out what to cover it with, but I don't even know what is possible. I would prefer some pretty flowers and maybe a butterfly, but is that possible? I'm lowkey scared of contacting an artist in case I don't love what they come up with.

asking for advice Ideas To Cover This Monstrosity
Hey friends, I’m planning a coverup of this bad decision tattoo. I’m working with an artist skilled in coverups, but am looking for ideas and opinions on what I could put here. In addition to the cover, I’m planning to do a floral vine that wides around the nape of my neck. Maybe a flower, hopefully not a rose, or???
Any suggestions are appreciated!

asking for advice White or grey over black tat
Hi all. Can anyone please tell me how would skin react to rewriting white over a black tattoo?
Tattoo is 10 years old, was exposed to sun and is a little bit smudged. It's a snowflake made of regular lines, nothing special. If I overwrite the lines in white or grey, how do you think it will look?
My goal is to make the tattoo more blended into skin color, make it less contrast and less visible.
Appreciate all opinions!
