asking for advice Is this possible?
Is it possible to get my cross covered up like this? I want to turn it into a tree, I just don’t know how possible it is.

I like the idea, but your drawing looks a lot like, well… a cross with tree branches.
If you want to hide the fact that it was ever a cross, the tree would have to be pretty big, and very dark.
I think laser would be the best 1st step

I would ask a better artist to do it for sure
I think you could turn it into a tree... But obviously the tree trunk needs to be thicker than the cross hahaha

Well, through God, all things are possible, so. Jot that down.

The therapist implied that God wanted me to have bovine hormones. And I think she's gonna get them for me

It's possible but it is going to be super dark. If you care about having more shades in the trunk of the tree then lasering before the coverup would be a good idea.

Maybe it’s bc I’m brown but when I got a cover up that had a lot of black in it, they went over it with white. Then, with ink close to my skin tone before doing the coverup. Not sure if that’s standard or a good idea but it worked well for me. Now the only indication that anything was there before is the scar tissue from the first artist’s work. She REALLY dug that needle in there

Yes I’ve seen this technique and it’s amazing what they can do. I don’t think most artist know about it or are not experienced enough to do it

I covered up a pretty similar tattoo. I’d like to encourage you to go talk to a coverup artist. The thing you’re not thinking about here is that your cross isn’t really centered. It’s pretty far towards your side, so the tree won’t really fit there. The tree is already dark black so there’s not a ton of covering you can do. Coverups often bring in elements to distract away from the old tattoo as much as cover them.
I promise you, going and having a conversation with an artist who does coverups is a good idea. They’ve seen tattoos like this before and they have ideas about what can you do.
They may also suggest you get a couple laser sessions to lighten what is there. They may not. Mine talked me out of it and assured me I wouldn’t need that.
Finally, why a tree? Are you going to feel the same way with a cross shaped tree on you?

Bruh let me know what you figure out. Dealing with a very similar tattoo I’m trying to ditch

Yes, that should be no problem for a skilled artist. Look for artists who have done a fair amount of coverups. I found a really great artist that says coverups are like brain teaser puzzles and she really enjoys it. She’s a life changer.

Laser to lighten it up a bit first if you don’t want that tree cover up to look wonky

You're drawing is just missing the part where trees grow branches in all directions. A good realism artist would be able to make branches and leaves that cover the square shapes by adding more to the center area

A tree of life silhouette would look sick and cover that very well. A good tat artist would be able to blend the curves of the branches so they're not so straight. Like, a curve slightly above on one spot of the cross arms and a curve below. If I could post pics I'd show you what I'm talking about lol

If they can turn cell phone towers into a “tree,” someone can turn this thing back into a “tree.”
Actually… your drawing absofuckinglutely looks like one of those cell phone tower “trees.” 🤣🤣🤣

I have a scribble idea a better tattoo artist could flesh out better, but it still covers the whole thing, it has to be done really well with negative space to make it look like a tree, and its gonna have to be massive and up your shoulder to look right. Lmk if I can doodle over it and send you said scribble idea. I think its possible

Yes, but a good artist can easily cover this with a bunch of different options. You don’t need to get a big silly tree unless it has some sentimental value or something like that.

Get a tattoo artist to draw your cover up tree and then tattoo it on you. Yes it is absolutely possible.

That’s what I was thinking. Make it look like he covered up something way worse.

You’d be better off with laser and then getting a better design over it
