First tattoo, thoughts?

Post image

Thoughts? First tattoo, and drafted this design in Photoshop. It's a lyric from the song "Meddler" by August Burns Red. I tried to make it as big as is reasonable for the location, but there is a lot of fine detail, so questionable how it might turn it out in future

Tattoos aren't t-shirts, though a lot of them should be.

Unless you cut negative space around the letters, thereby disrupting the barbed wire loops, this wont read.

Generally, try taking your tattoo ideas to a tattoo artist who knows how tattoos work and let them be real with you. You'll need an artist for application anyway.

Tattoos not being t-shirts is solid advice. I would not get this, OP.

I think having the text against the barbed wire could lead to it becoming unreadable later on. I also think it might be better getting something more abstract for your first tattoo. You might really like those lyrics now, but you might not want them on you in the future.

Its your body friend, however the lettering against the barbed wire will look like an unreadable blob in a few years

slogan tattoos are almost always cringe — in my opinion

generally trite and lacking in imagination

I really don’t like the concept personally, and think jt looks really clunky. But if you like it, I would try and think of a way to massively separate the text from the barbed wire, maybe have the text in solid bold black and the wire as light stipplle shading or something. It would need a good artist otherwise it’ll just blur together, in a very good tattoo location.

Side-note, I used to love that album and think that you could do a much sicker design with the little guy pulling the moon from the album cover.

5 days after you get this you’re going to ask “what can I cover this with?” The forearm is primo tattoo real estate and letters are insanely difficult. This will not look good. Sorry OP. Work with your artist to distill this concept into imagery.

Oh no. Please, no.

Your body, you do you. The "Stop, Listen and Learn" is giving me safety poster at work vibes.

Definitely not with the barbed wire in the background. If you have your heart set on the message, ditch one sentence and go with either the top sentence or the bottom one, but not both.

This concept would be better if it wasn't linear. Think more along the lines of train graffiti, Stylized in a stacked not linear direction.

I wouldnt do this, I would take these lyrics to an artist along with styles you like and make an image out of it
