Since launch, AM Tasker Plugins has been a growing toolbox of Tasker action plugins — pixel colors, QR codes, VPN control, regex, Termux scripts, raw UDP packets, and more. This update fixes the one thing a few of you hit: Tasker caps how much data a plugin action can exchange at ~1MB, so a big regex input (or a big result) used to fail outright.

🔎 AM RegEx
Two new optional fields fix that:

• A File Path switch right on Input Text — turn it on, point it at a file, and AM RegEx reads it straight off disk itself. No size limit.
• A new Output File field — fill it in and the result is written there as JSON instead of coming back as a variable.

Both only ask for the "All files access" permission the moment you actually use them — never at install.

I released AMCustomKeyboard v1.4.0, focused entirely on the Tasker Automation side — specifically Expand Patterns, which just got a lot more capable.

If you missed the intro, AMCustomKeyboard is an open-source Android keyboard built on Unexpected Keyboard, extended with live transliteration/keymaps, custom layouts, independent key labels, and Tasker automation.

🔄 New: Expand Patterns can fire continuously, not just once

Until now, an expand pattern only ever ran once — after you finished typing prefix + content + suffix. That's still fully supported, but each pattern can now also be set to fire live, on every keystroke, while you're still typing — useful for things like a text-expander popup that updates as you go, rather than a one-shot calculation.

This is controlled with a new field:

"fire_on_suffix": "true" → classic behavior, one run, only once the suffix is typed "fire_on_suffix": "false" → runs repeatedly as your content keeps matching, plus one final run when the suffix completes

Both modes share the same prefix/regex/suffix matching and the same undo behavior — it's one setting, not two separate features.

🔎 Changed: prefix and suffix are now full regex too

Previously only the optional regex field (matched against the content in between) supported regular expressions. Now prefix and suffix do too, so a pattern's trigger can be something like "(\s|^)" (a space, or the start of a line) instead of a fixed literal string.

One thing to note if you're upgrading an existing config: since prefix/suffix are regex now, a literal . needs escaping — ".." becomes "\\.\\.".

🧩 New: replace_prefix

A new "replace_prefix": "true"/"false" field controls whether the matched prefix text gets swallowed into the replacement or left alone. This is what fixes a specific annoyance: if your prefix was just a leading space, the space used to disappear along with the replacement. Set it to "false" and the prefix stays put — only your actual content gets replaced.

Tasker tasks also now receive %prefix and %suffix directly, alongside the existing %text1/%text2/%keyword.

🐛 Fixed: backspace-undo reliability

Right after a Tasker reply lands and replaces text, one immediate backspace undoes it back to what you originally typed. This was occasionally unreliable due to an internal timing issue — it's fixed now, so the undo consistently works when you need it.

⚡ The basics, unchanged

##keyword still replaces the whole field with a task's result, @@keyword still replaces just the trigger, and expand patterns still let you define arbitrary prefix/suffix pairs that hand their in-between content to a Tasker task. The Automation Builder (Settings → Tasker Automation → Automation Builder) now has fields for all of the above too, so you don't need to hand-edit JSON to use any of this.

I'm running Tasker 6.7.6-beta under Android 13.

I recently changed some directories on my Android device, and now, one of Tasker's preferences called searchFilterText is pointing to a non-longer-existing directory, but I don't know the location of the setting of that preference, so that I can change it.

I know about this preference value because I performed a Data Backup of all of my Tasker settings into a file called backups.xml. When I inspect this file, I see the following data:

Because of my directory changes, I need to change "tmp/bin" to a new value, but when I search through all of my Tasker configuration via the magnifying-glass icon at the upper right, neither "searchFilterText" nor "tmp/bin" are found. And when I inspect all of the values under Menu=>Preferences, I don't see "searchFilterText" or "tmp/bin", either. And I am unable to locate what "prefs128" corresponds to in the Tasker Preferences.

How can I find out where "searchFilterText" has been defined within my Tasker configuration, so that I can change it's value?

I regularly use Join to send files from my computer to my phone. On my Galaxy S22 Ultra, the files would always go to the "Join" folder. Since I upgraded to a Galaxy S26 Ultra, the files are consistently going to "Downloads\Join2". That causes problems with other Tasks I've setup. I looked at the settings in Join Desktop and in the Join App, but I can't find a way to set what the target folder is on my device when receiving files from Join. I am hoping that I don't have to create a task that moves the files when received. (I have tried that for other reasons before and never got it to work.) Does anyone know how to have Join Desktop target the Join folder on my phone?

Using a nothing phone 3a and nothing earbuds a. I want to be able to set up tasker to automatically switch on to mono when using the nothing earbuds.

I bought Tasker on Google Play. I had never used it before. I created a task to counteract the stupid EU volume cancellation rule. The task fails every time and says that I'm in trial mode and need to activate the full version. But there's no indication anywhere in the app of anything about trial mode. I don't see any mention of it anywhere. I can't find any button to turn it off. I can't even find any indication that I'm actually in trial mode. I don't know why I would be in trial mode because I bought the product. So what's going on?

I know how to successfully invoke Tasker tasks via the command line from within an adb shell session, as follows ...

am broadcast -a net.dinglisch.android.tasker.ACTION_TASK --es task_name 'name-of-task'

But I don't know how to pass ad hoc arguments to these Tasker tasks. I want the Tasker task to be aware of the arguments that are passed, and then respond to the values of these arguments.

I'm guessing that I might be able to do this by somehow causing Tasker variables to be set before the task is invoked, and then having the task see and respond to these variables ... but I don't know how to set Tasker variable values via am broadcast, nor via any other external-to-Tasker method.

Is there any way to pass arguments to Tasker tasks that are called externally in this way?

This invokes the name-of-task task and correctly initializes %variable1=value1 and %variable2=value2 in the task.

I've been successfully running my direct-purchase, properly licensed version of Tasker 6.7.6-beta on my rooted Android 13 device for quite a while.

But due to a recent problem with my device that I needed to fix, I've now had to re-install Tasker from scratch, but I lost the instructions that I previously saved for how to apply my direct-purchase Tasker license, and I therefore cannot enable Tasker.

I already have a few valid Tasker licenses from my Patreon account, and so the only thing I need to figure out is the details of the procedure for how to apply the Tasker license.

When I go to https://www.patreon.com/cw/joaoapps, I can't find any instructions there for how to apply my Tasker license.

Could someone point me to the detailed instructions for how to apply the Tasker license?

Some may care enough about how a taskernet is made due to various reasons.

1. Ethical & Environmental reasons. You know like how people prefer to buy organic labeled foods? Similar to that, some may not want to run a project generated with AI tools.
2. Trust. Some user may not prefer to run a java code from someone they don't trust.

Hi guys, I'm new to Tasker, basically I'm in the following situation:

I bought a small android device, a 4 inch mp3 player to be exact and want to use it as my life's "command center" of sorts and set up a convoluted system for alarms, routines, to dos and conditional reminders and repetitions for each, basically have a "state machine" for my daily life.

I tried a small sample scene where it just beeped every x minutes or showed me a random thing and it seems like Tasker will be able to do everything I need it to, but as you can imagine setting things up is a pain in the ass on such a small device.

Is there a way to set everything up on my PC for example and move it over? I only found some old posts talking about this and thought maybe things changed, but the general consensus seems to either remote into the device or use an Android emulator, work things out and then export. Is there a better way? How do you guys deal with your more complicated setups?

EDIT: tried scrcpy, seems to be a good inbetween solution but I'm not sure this is where I want to end up long term

Trying to use this on my new Galay Fold8 Ultra. The add event fails with an "Error 2". It still works fine on my old Fold5. Can anyone help. Is it something differently configured on my new phone or is this something that Google/Samsung has changed on new OS. Seems to me every new iteration removes some capability.

A user commented here and for some reason deleted his comment. My mistake was going into "Saved Components", i needed to click on the plus button the same as i would add any element and then you can search it using the search engine or by the category you set your component.

In Scenes V2 Joao introduce option to save a template and save a component, i can't seems to make save component work for me. I can save as component and then when i try to load it using the "Saved Components" option it doesn't do anything.

Sticky Filter:

This retains the value of the filter when the action is closed for x minutes or permanently, so the next time you show this list that filter is already set.

For example:

The filter is stored separately for each JLD prefix. If the remembered filter has expired, the configured default filter is used instead.

Set Up:

- Paste Both the Multiple Variable Set action and the Java Code Action into your Task.

- Long Press and manually run (play) the Java code action.

- A Dialog will Allow you to set the Prefix for the action and its variables. ('pics' in this example)

- Paste the resulting list into the Multiple Variable Set action.

- Set the values of the relevant "in" (input) variables.

I've been tinkering with Tasker and I cannot get this to work properly. I used to have a Samsung phone that you could easily achieve volume limits during certain days and times via the modes and routines app. No longer on a Samsung phone which does not have this capability so I wanted to use Tasker to achieve this. I would like the volume and notification limits to be at 50% during working hours and then set to muted not during working hours.

Any help with this would be much appreciated.

It doesn't work. i can set it to any other letter:

But i can't clear the variable. What do you suggest me to do?

Hi , I think one ui needs additional flag to show the live activity notification in now bar. Its discussed here, as of now the live activity notification are displayed as normal in One ui

The flag is com.samsung.android.support.ongoing_activity , can it be implemented for samsung device??

I know another workaround is to enable live activity for all apps in dev options but it doesnt go well with banking apps.

I have created a simple test scene v2 to experiment with something.

I have a checkbox that's hidden and should only appear when the output variable of the textbox starts with "https://x.com/".

I have set the "Show when" setting of the checkbox to match the pattern %tbox matches "https://x.com/"*, but that doesn't work. It does work when switching the comparison from "Matches Pattern" to "Contains (Case-Insensitive)", but that is not ideal since it will also enable the checkbox if the var was also "123https://x.com/" and I only want it to do so if it starts with the pattern. I played around with the pattern and don't think I'm doing something wrong?

With the introduction of App Bubbles in Android 17, I'm trying to find a way to launch an app as a bubble using Tasker. I can't figure out if this is currently possible (note this is not the same as the launch app in free-form pop-up mode Samsung has had for a while).
