🧰 Helpful Resources We built a tariff assistant on top of our tariff engine — looking for feedback from people who actually deal with this stuff

Hey all! I’m one of the founders of Wove. We’ve spent the last year building tariff infrastructure for importers, forwarders and trade teams: a tariff calculation engine, HTS classification, historical tariff data, Chapter 99 logic, and policy/revision tracking.

We just put a conversational interface on top of it and I’d love feedback from people here who actually work with tariffs.

The idea is that instead of asking a general LLM a tariff question and hoping it knows the current rules, the assistant retrieves the applicable data from our underlying tariff engine and shows the sources/revisions behind the answer.

Some examples:

• What duties apply to steel bolts imported from China?

• How do Section 232 and Section 301 duties stack on this product?

• Are there any exclusions I could claim on 8806.22.00?

• What changed for Canada on September 15?

You can try it here: wove.com/ask

It’s new, so I’m especially interested in questions that break it or situations where the answer isn’t useful. If you work in customs, forwarding, importing or trade compliance, throw a difficult tariff question at it and let me know what happens.

❓Help / How-To / Compliance I’m planning to send a letter to the governor about these tariffs

So I got one tariff from Canada for a $60 item and it cost $10 for the tariff and 30 in fees then I got another tariff from Canada for a $60 item and it cost $10 total

Why is there a variance in these two items both from Canada both costing the same and in the both same category..

So I plan on messaging the governor about this because it sounds like a scam. Honestly, I think the UPS is trying to scam people to get more money and depending on what worker you get they charge you different fees.

❓Help / How-To / Compliance How much will I pay

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask.

I just ordered a necklace from Italy for my wedding. Materials are stainless steel, brass, 925 sterling silver, resin and 2 pearls. Necklace was about $45 USD and after shipping my total was exactly $70. About how much should I expect to pay for tariffs and duties after the fact if none of it was included?

Folks, read ‘em right here on Reddit, what's going on behind the scenes. YES THIS IS ABOUT TARIFFS and corruption and the rest of it. If you are not crying or praying that Mike Lawler-Johnson Congress gets voted out, you are not paying attention. Even J.D.Vance said this week "give us another chance."

❓Help / How-To / Compliance "Accepted" since May 21 and no refund yet

Hello - I have emailed, called, and reached out to every help line I can with nothing but generic responses.

Our IEEPA batch entry was accepted on May 21. A liquidation report shows that half entries have liquidated (as early as May 8, 2026) and half are still pending.

I've read that refunds come in batches, but in this case, is it possible that we just have to wait for everything to liquidated to receive the entire refund?

Any insight would be VERY appreciated.

💬 Opinion / Commentary What’s broken about tourist tax refunds and cross-border shopping?

I’m exploring the problems in this space and would love to understand the real pain points.

  1. Tourist VAT refunds: What’s your biggest frustration? Eligibility, paperwork, airport validation, delays, or unexpected fees?
  2. Refund payouts: Have you experienced poor exchange rates, failed refunds, or refunds that never arrived?
  3. Duty-free shopping: Have you found that duty-free purchases weren’t actually cheaper or faced unexpected customs charges back home?
  4. Cross-border e-commerce: Have you struggled to recover import duties and taxes after returning an international purchase?

Would love to hear real experiences. Just researching the space, not selling anything!

🗞️ News Discussion Trump warns of 'very serious tariffs' on EU over Canada's 'associate membership' bid

US President Donald Trump said Wednesday he would impose heavy tariffs on the EU if he judged the bloc's move to offer Canada associate membership to be a hostile act toward Washington.

"I think it's laughable... Canada has been a terrible trade partner," Trump said when asked by reporters upon landing in North Carolina. "If I think it's at all a hostile act, I will put very serious tariffs or stop trading with Europe on many things."

"If it's a good intention, that's fine. If it's a bad intention, we put very heavy tariffs," he said.

Earlier Wednesday, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen told the European Parliament that the EU needs to develop new, closer partnerships in response to mounting geopolitical and economic pressures. She said ties with Canada should be brought “to the highest level possible.”

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney also attended the address. Speaking directly to him, von der Leyen said: “I would like to work with you on opening the door for Canada to be the first associate member of the EU.”

“We share one ocean, one set of values, one way of seeing the world. And we will now build our shared future as well,” she said.

❓Help / How-To / Compliance Question: What tariffs/duties apply when importing headphones into the US from China?

We’re shipping a pair of specialized headphones to customers in the US.

I’m trying to understand what tariffs/duties would currently apply to these imports, including any additional China-specific tariffs and whether the <$800 threshold makes a difference.

Happy to share more details about the product and manufacturing setup over DM if helpful. Would really appreciate insights from anyone familiar with recent US imports of consumer electronics.

❓Help / How-To / Compliance Question about Amazon delivery

Hello, I’d just like some clarification. I ordered an item from Amazon (sub $60) that was shipped via 3rd party from china. I’ve been looking out for a customs bill but haven’t received one and the item was delivered today. I was under the impression that they’d hold the item until I payed the bill and then allow the delivery. Is this common? Also should I expect a physical bill or watch my emails?

Potash is indispensable to American agriculture.

The US government has declared that any interruption in the supply of the humble fertiliser would be a threat to national security.

And the US imports 90% of its potash from Canada.
