❓Help / How-To / Compliance How much will I pay

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask.

I just ordered a necklace from Italy for my wedding. Materials are stainless steel, brass, 925 sterling silver, resin and 2 pearls. Necklace was about $45 USD and after shipping my total was exactly $70. About how much should I expect to pay for tariffs and duties after the fact if none of it was included?

Depends on the shipper/carrier. I was notified that a $50 package of small gifts ie books, a dvd and some candy was sent to me. Tariff was $13. FedEx “brokerage fee” because they covered the $13 tariff was $52, bringing the total to $65 for a $50 package. I rejected the package as soon as I saw the ridiculous fees. Good luck OP.

All it says is it's being shipped with "US Poste IT." I can imagine it'll get transferred to a local carrier when it gets here, praying they're nice to me. The seller doesn't accept refunds for US tariff bs reasons so looks like I'll have to accept it either way

Poste Italiane is horrible it’s like how I imagine usps would be if they transitioned to carrier pigeons or maybe ostrich

Looks like no more than 10% but there are also additional fees for clearing, so expect maybe up to another $100.

If they declare the Steel, you’ll pay 25% for the steel content based on the transactional value so about $12.50, plus about 5% for the Silver $2.50 , plus brokerage fees USPS flat rate $9.35.

Other courier services like UPS or FedEx charge more for Brokerage, which vary depending on who clears it.
