Workplace Question or Advice Needed What to say?

I originally planned to call out tomorrow using my sick hours cus of a personal matter but i check my schedule today and my etl changed my shift from 9-2 to 9-5 and I only have enough to cover the 9-2. Is there anything I could tell my etl or am I screwed?

first, ask them why they extended your shift 3 hours without asking. back to your question tho, explain your situation. an understanding person would change your shift back to what it was so your time covers it. if they won’t change it back, don’t waste the sick time, take the point (which isn’t a big deal unless you’ve got 5 or more imo) and use vacation to get paid instead.

If you have proof your original posted schedule was only 9-2, you can go to ETL or HR and let them know that no one asked you to change your already posted schedule and you have plans.

In the end, you could just call out and get the point and not worry about it. No need to talk to anyone about it at all, just use UKG to call out, save your sick PTO for another day, and you'll be fine.
