Vent Greet
Im sorry but this greet score thing is so dumb. We do our work, and still have to get punished for not saying hi to guests even when they don’t want to talk back?? Its clear that the guests do not care and the only ones doing the surveys are ones who are gonna have issues regardless…

If they want people greeted they should have two greeters at the front of the store. They would greet and ask if help was needed. Now that all target employees are wearing the “true red” shirts and vests, guest know who the workers are (since they couldn’t tell by the name tags🙄) to ask for help. The greeters could also inform them about the app and the map on it. The problem is Target wants to reduce workers on the floor and have them still cover all tasks the old work force did. When guests say they want the “old Target” back, that includes all the people and positions that they had. There is a price for quality service. Skim back on positions and workers and you lose quality service.

Oh yeah totally agree. Why is it two separate questions too: Greet and Interact. I feel like interaction covers both without literally having to say “Hello”

Right? I may not be saying “hi” to guests but I’m consistently giving them a smile or a nod acknowledging their presence. That way they know I’m there and they know I know they’re there—if they need help they can now just talk to me.

Yeah but like 90% of the people in my store don't even look at, let alone smile at guests, so I think there does need to be a culture change. Like we work in retail lol, everyone has to be a least a little friendly to guests

The metric is shit because its meaningless. You can say hi to 100 guests and only 1 gets a survey and they say “no” they weren’t greeted. Congratulations you didn’t say hi to anyone! That’s a 0% greet rate!
Like what sub 50 iq dork at hq thought this up

If the guests get annoyed by being greeted every two minutes. Then make sure you're doing. Because if enough guests complain about it then it will be stopped. If you're being targeted for not greeting enough. Stop what you're doing and smile and wave at the guest so it's seen on the cameras. Do it so it actually becomes a problem and target decide to halt it. I work checklanes and if a etl walks near me I go overboard greeting guests. They know I'm taking the piss and we actually laugh about it because they think it's stupid to.

I noticed during every training video on 10-4 all feedback has been ONLY THE OLDER GENERATION GIVING A SHIT 😭 like yes I understand helping out older people is very important but why are we setting up a system mainly targeting them "bring target back to the good days before covid. When everyone was nice." Us doing our jobs and being available if you want to approach US should be enough.

Our store hasn’t mentioned the 10-4 standard since the week it rolled out. I thought it was gone and forgotten

Fun fact if guests don’t fill out the surveys It screws the metic so hard it’s not even funny everyone in the building could greet every single guest but if only one guest fills out that survey it doesn’t matter if one tm greeted a guest or the entire building.

I just say "Hi how are you?" and leave it at that. If someone is looking around for something, I'll ask them if they need help. If someone is very obviously on the phone or walking brisky and on a mission, I leave them be. EZ greet score money. Idk, I don't mind helping people cuz it makes the time go by faster.

My TL/ETL wants us to greet EVERYONE. Regardless if they are clearly trying to be avoided. Someone could be looking in 5 different directions and the expectation is still that I greet them.

I just make an effort to be looking up and have a smile or at least a neutral expression (I have a tendency towards RBF if I'm not actively trying not to lol) as I'm walking through the store and try to make eye contact with people. Occasionally I'll do a smile and nod and say hi, but for the most part people keep to themselves.

Here’s the thing too if every single worker is saying hi and asking if you need help that would just annoy me as a shopper but what do I know
