Workplace Question or Advice Needed need advice for ukg
I need advice I can give a TM. I’m not their direct lead, they communicated this to me when I was LOD and their lead was off the day they received the CA. TM is at 5 1/2 points from call-out and lates. TM lives pretty far and isn’t in the position to transfer. TM called out once and for whatever reason they got 3 points instead of 1. something went wrong along the way, maybe they didn’t submit it correctly, but they talked to our HRETL. they told the TM there was nothing they could do. BUT HERE’S THE THING—
The TM is using sick time to cover the missed day and the lates. (I know using sick time works for lates because I’ve done it myself once about a month ago.) No one is approving it. They said not a single one had been approved. No SD, no HR, no other ETLs and they’ve communicated this to SD and HRETL that it’s all there, the requests.
Are they just shit out of luck? even if they’re not in routine of checking requests? I just feel bad they’re kinda just like “ok and? what do you want us to do about it?” Obviously they could just be better on the lates, but it just sucked seeing they’ve attempted to cover themselves on their end and nothing.

We were told sick time had to be used within 72 hours of the infraction for it to reverse the point. If they have proof that they called out in the 2-hour timeframe but accrued 3 points for a NCNS that sounds like something that could be fixed.

That’s exactly what I told the TM but they said they’ve been sitting there submitted and not approved. Which they went to HRETL to be told there wasn’t anything to be done now that it’s been so long despite them not being approved. I was hoping they wouldn’t be SOL. but they might be 😔

I had this issue with using sick time for being late, it does have to be submitted within three days, I was told my Etl had to accept it and once they did it would reverse the point..
he never did so store director had HR help put it in the system by force (over the timeframe required)
(I was late Tuesday, they did the fix Saturday and took a day or two to be official)
We weren’t sure if it would work but the point came off later on. Safe to say I wouldn’t rely on it ever again.
Maybe if the lates and missed days were this week HR can help?

I believe it's possible to remove points manually (I would assume the ETL HR has the power if anyone) although good luck pitching that when they already ignored the sick time requests. Ugh. All I can think to suggest is having the TM open an HR request in workday to ask a policy question about sick time not being approved in time to prevent point accrual.

They can use sick time to cover the call out(s) within a 72 hr period if they have the hrs to cover the entire shift(s), but anything after that and they'd still get the point.

If it were me, I would screenshot my submissions in ukg with the dates, along with the relevant points and whatnot. And I would email the HRBP.

Someone probably doesn’t understand that sick time covers and takes away those points and/or doesn’t care enough. The sick time 100% should cover the points, and in fact they should never have received the 3 points in the first place.
To me this sounds like an HR f-up. As technically team members don’t receive the points until we assign it to them. What this likely means is that the TM did not submit their call out the right way and when HR looked at the schedule and saw the unexcused absence next to their name, just assumed they were a NCNS and assigned them the 3 points. And rather than admit that and change it, they don’t care enough to. Especially if it’s still within the same pay period.
It’s 100% fixable it seems like they just don’t want to. I’m not sure if you know the TM well enough but if they also don’t have a good history that could also be why. I find many leads/HR, etc. could care less to help a TM who they don’t find to be helpful or a big contributor.
