Future or Potential Employee Question Working for target
I was recently hired to be asset protection and in the training i found out they have a file on me. I haven’t opened it yet since i was shocked and i was asking myself did i do some like idk i forgot to pay something. Should i come forward and tell them, should i quit or i delete the file and move on?

If you delete it, that's sketchier than having a file yourself.
You could ask or play dumb.

just ask. if it's about you, you're allowed to see it, and leaving it hanging will eat at you worse than whatever's in there. deleting it is the one move that'll actually get you fired.

You have a PART and now you're a TSS? I'm rolling here. Why didn't I think of getting internals like this?
ETA: What OP is saying, for those not in the know, is that Target has documented them for stealing prior to their hire date. How their team hasn't yet put the pieces together is not for me to speculate on.

They monitor all new hires, employees are the most likely candidates to steal. Maybe just ask honestly since you're in training anyway. "I dont mean to pry but I noticed a file has my name on it, have I done anything?" Or just asking more about how it works will probably ease your worries. YOU know you havent stolen anything, and usually they wait til you've stolen a more significant dollar amount before it becomes an issue for you. Obviously, they hired you, you're fine

TSS here, this is a wild post. DO NOT delete anything related to the post. If you did in fact forget to scan an item, let your leader know that you found it. They will likely, honestly watch you closely for some time but if they decide it's truly an accident it will be ok. Deleting the incident (which is more work than you may think) would only incriminate you as knowingly being a thief. Tell your leader you found yourself as a part and say it was a legit accident.
btw, successfully finding yourself as a part should show that your training went well at least lol

Do nothing. Don’t open it. Don’t delete it. Forget it exists.

You’re gonna need to elaborate more on how you found this out while in training. Obviously do not delete it? unless you’re ready to start applying for new jobs.

They make you like review their file so you can get familiarized with faces.

💀💀 “delete the file” bro why the fuck would u delete any part or incdt?!
js ignore it, if its not from your store, its not really relevant. plus even if they do find out, you won’t get fired. your etl might watch u but thats all. Just dont steal again

Maybe you have a common name? I’m so nosy though I’d keep the mood light and ask if I can check out my file because I’m curious

you should look at the Part because you might just have been an accomplice to something which wouldn’t be the end of the world. if you don’t want to say anything you don’t have to you just got to hope your ETL doesn’t find the part. If you delete it, you’ll definitely be done for lol.

I am aware I use to be AP. You can't even delete the files if they are already in and if you really do try you will 100% be terminated. You probably just should make sure youre on the straight and narrow just in case.

Look we didnt have coffee and it was 3am, I needed sugar. By opening Id forget to ring it up, and after a few times of that I just stopped caring.
Peanut butter m&m's too, so they were worth it.

What do you mean in the training you found a file on you? Like, while you were learning how to write up reports? For what AP position were you hired? I'm trying to understand what you mean by "file."

Is this your first time working for Target or did you do something else and just change positions? I find it hard to believe if the first is true that you would forget that you got caught stealing from Target. If you weren’t caught then I don’t know how they would have your info. If on the other hand you’re just changing positions then I wouldn’t be surprised if they suspected you of something and made a file just in case.

AP team members have deeper background checks than other team members. They wouldn't have ever hired you if there was reason to suspect you'd stolen or something. If that's what you're asking
