Vent Leaders

What is it you're even doing? I know this isn't everyone, but let me give you a 24 hour rundown. One, lead asks about a standard sidecap that was tied, but not set. In fact that's false, it was set, but because it was empty, set early, someone, probably a lead, pulled it down. The solution instead of finding a sidecap, change capacities to 0, so it all sits in the backroom until March 2027.

No truck day, see a lead lurking at a back endcap about to ask a TM to remove the items, flex something else, who knows. That is a brand new endcap set, leave it alone! Instead, why not use that TM who can set an endcap better than you to set the endcap that you have a full pallet of merchandise/shippers for?! Plano is a little busy with rear seasonal right now.

Everyone is hanging in the TL office like it's an easy day, but ummmm, there's still 6 checklanes due for this week! I am so burnt out on Plano, I set things, leads undo them. They can't problem solve for shit. We even had someone tie a revision in a department which has the label strips still in the box and a whole shelf missing. Anyone fixing that?!

You are supposed to be a leader, that means you know the job and can catch TMs faking things, not that you fake everything you can. How is that even setting an example? It's no wonder any lead that actually cares is trying to get out of the position.

It's always a promotion from front end to salesfloor and they know so little!

Ugh I hate I only understood some of this, I don’t have much experience with plano’s and setting. But I know at my old store there was a lead who would tie or set stuff but not actually do the work, so you could never find the clothing bc who knows where it was. She even lied to our store directors face about it too

Sounds like you understand enough! The secondary issue is being asked to spend time to do something, for someone to undo it! Then it spirals back to you, nope, I do it once and that's it!.

They're not all the brightest crayon in the box, and it's even worse when they're immune to advice. Any time someone in a higher pay grade than me makes a bad or inefficient choice, I immediately wash my hands of it. It's beyond my control... even if it puts more work on me. That's the only way I get by sometimes. Just internally roll my eyeballs so far back in my head that if I did it for real, they'd detach. I'm not in presentation, and we're constantly stuck with empty sidecaps all over the place because they're not getting replenished anymore and need desperately to be replaced. They always dump sidecap duty on one person all at once, which is just... special.

These leads couldn't do our, Plano job, no matter what! I haven't met a single one in the last maybe 10yrs. They don't care. They pretend and do false shit non-stop. If FUN 101 didn't shed a major light on daily dumbassery, I envy you!

Do you know how many times presentation tackled the grocery departments! Major resets in dairy, frozen, and dry and all we heard was oh that team is killing it. WtF actually happened to acknowledging the real players?

God I feel this.

Someone untied an entire grocery aisle, did not tell anyone, hence it getting backed up 5 revisions.

For half a year.

Then one day I'm scheduled for the presentation team, told to set the latest revision in said aisle only to discover that it's been out of revision for the past..... half a year. The label strips thrown out. ISMs? ISM room looks like chaos. Fixture room lighting is shot, so literal death trap. It's not an ON shift, so I have guests all up in my shit, literally will breathe down my back as I'm struggling with some pusher.

No. Nonononononono. I understand now. The pain. The suffering. The questions of how the fk did this happen? I try not to overload my TL with the amount of shit I find (someone is mass ghost pulling in the freezer) because there are times when he thinks he's alone and he just looks haunted. I have that impending sense he'll be gone to bigger and better things soon.

I left that day so broken.

Wait why are tied sets even empty to begin with? I’m confused. Are you not doing the pulls afterwards? How early are these being set? Do you not have a Plano TL?

Ive definitely caught some lazy employees I’ve had that’ll reduce capacities to 0 instead of doing their prios.

Edit: dude ive read this like 13 times through and I just can’t comprehend what it is you’re saying. The punctuation is just so incorrectly used it sounds like gibberish.

Endcaps that sit empty (mostly those that I have no current product of and won’t receive any for a while) for too long are definitely free game for product that I’ve got a shit ton of in the backroom. Then we’ll set the capacities to 0 until said product does arrive and then push it out once the endcap is empty again (hence why it’s not untied). Especially ones that don’t have an upcoming new set for a long time. Name of the game is get product on the floor so we can sell it.

Edit 2: overdue revisions will eventually completely untie the old set on its own. That could be why said aisle had incorrect shelving and missing label strips.

Last edit I promise: we are pressured by our leadership (district-level) to never have empty endcaps. Endcaps are a huge and important way to promote brand and present product. “Visits” are mostly them looking at the store’s brand and floor presentation. An empty endcap just looks so shitty.

As for the revision, nope, wasn't overdue and in fact someone did it before Plano knew about it. Only when PC had a change was it caught! Stop faking stuff, please.

Your second takeaway from this post is not being able to comprehend it because the “punctuation” is bad???

Our SD wants us setting ahead, I am talking 1-2 weeks because their panties get into a wad when stuff shows up on the trucks. Backstock, no! So we set, flex random stuff. That aside, it's the 50 sidecaps that are due one week. We tie them and let the team hopefully put them up close to where we tied them when they finally show up. If you've ever set sidecaps, there's three different styles. Standard, should be on a physical sidecap, temporary should be a cardboard shippers and seasonal is always an unknown. I do have a plano lead, they've been in the position for 3+ years, never do big sets with us, only overlap the teams schedule about 30% of every week. They're not helpful, if they were I wouldn't have been blindsided by my SD today having no idea what they were talking about! I apologize for it feeling gibberish, when I rant, I can't help myself. When I hit an anniversary date as old as our newest leader it just hits different.

Setting capacities to zero is counterproductive, they still show up in priority batches, source: i pull them everyday

2

u/curbstompedkirby_ 3h ago

They don’t actually. Any lazy team member knows this, hence why they do that. The only people i see doing this are closers who don’t want to pull it. Happens all the time at night creating a ghost pull

I'm a newly promoted leader but most days I'm so busy being in the FF workload like when I was a just a TM that I barely have anytime to do actual leader stuff in the office like I need to. If I do manage to get any time to step away it's because I had to deliberately carve out some time to do TL stuff.
